Lovely cottage, spacious, comfortable and clean. Ideal location, wonderful walks on the doorstep and nice pubs just down the lane. Looking forward to our next visit to Gillbank cottage.

About the neighbourhood
Within the valley lie the villages of Boot, Eskdale Green and Ravenglass, a Narrow Gauge Railway, a Castle, the last working Corn mill in the Lake District, several Galleries, 3 Campsites, 7 Inns and much much more. The river Esk starts it's journey to the sea from high in the fells at Esk Hause, passing through Great Moss at the base of Scafell Pike then tumbling down through a narrow gorge and a series of waterfalls. The stream swelled by many becks becomes a river and encounters it's first road at the foot of Hardknott Pass England's steepest road. From here the river takes on a more gentle character with small rapids as it passes through some of the most beautiful oak woodland in Cumbria.
