Holiday Rental House
Experience Manitoulin Island and the beauty of Ontario, Canada's “near north!” 2020 has come and gone with the many challenges that we have all faced. 2021 booking requests are coming in early (7 weeks already booked in June to September summer period) as Manitoulin with its low population density seems to be a popular vacation destination and choice as we collectively manage the current global health pandemic (COVID-19). While our past guests can vouch for our high cleaning standards, extra precautions will be taken with our cleaning and disinfecting procedures between our guest stays. While our past guests can vouch for our high cleaning standards, extra precautions will be taken with our cleaning and disinfecting procedures between our guest stays. Our cottage is modernly referred to as an 'urban cottage' within the village of South Baymouth with urban amenities, but within walking distance of your beach dock, nature trails, forest, and open country. The cottage is a completely renovated home (2011) in the village of South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island, Ontario...a small village where the ferry links visitors to the Bruce Peninsula and Southern Ontario. The village offers small town living (stores, marina, ferry, laundromat, gift shops, restaurants, museum) in a quiet setting right in the village (with extensive nature trails, fire pit in your own backyard, 250' to access private dock on South Bay...(high lake water levels have diminished the shoreline!). Watch the largest passenger ferry on the Great Lakes come and go from your private dock, walk our village's extensive and beautiful nature trails within a short walking distance from your cottage, visit our museum which has a 'one room' schoolhouse from the 1800's and a display on the history of our village and area, or tour Manitoulin Island with biking lanes, driving tours, many towns and villages, Native culture, or just relax. Fully equipped home (furniture, appliances, linens, dishes, BBQ, Sat TV, WiFi Internet, games, DVD's, electric heat, large cedar deck with patio furniture, canoe, two kayaks, bicycles)...just bring yourself and your food! Manitoulin Island, the largest fresh water island in the world, also has extensive sightseeing and activities for visitors while displaying that unique atmosphere of no 'city life,' and lots of lakes, forests, and nature. Complimentary pick up services to and from ferry terminal in South Baymouth for short/weekend stays. 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 queen, 2 twins); also 2 pull out couches in living room, fully equipped kitchen, 1 full bath with shower plus 2 pc. bath upstairs. Large deck with patio set for outdoor dining or relaxing. Indoor and outdoor games supplied. Cottage comes with complimentary outdoor games, canoe, kayaks and bicycles. Beach has dock. Weekly rate at $1,100 for up to 5 persons (extra if more); daily and weekend rate per night at $250 for up to 5 persons (extra if more). Spring and Fall rentals at reduced rates. No smoking premises. Multi car parking; room for boat trailer. Standard cottage rental terms and agreement apply. We welcome your enquiries via email or any other required information. The location is very close to the ferry, on minutes away. The cottage was very clean and well stocked. We were given a tour of the cottage and the owners left it to us with numbers to call if needed. Thanks

About the neighbourhood
Located on Third Street within the village of South Baymouth. Our cottage has been better described as a 'home away from home' with all the amenities provided. South Baymouth is the ferry terminal to and from the Bruce Peninsula, and located on Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world. Our village offers a museum of early life in South Baymouth and the surrounding area, many gift shops, restaurants, extensive hiking trails within walking distance from the cottage and located alongside the village, biking lanes with bicycles provided for our guests, the ferry Chi Cheemaun coming and going daily which can be seen from your private dock area, a marina for boating activities, and South Baymouth is an example of a small northern village. The cottage area with crystal cl...
Getting around
We recommend bringing your own vehicle to best get around Manitoulin and visit the site. Lots of different day tour routes via your vehicle. Also, be sure to reserve the ferry in advance (no extra cost to reserve) and it will ensure your ferry trip during the busy summer months when it often has full loads. Manitoulin roads are also excellent for biking (bring your own or we supply bikes at the cottage at no charge).
