The entire cottage is an 80 year old structure that has been recently renovated by us from the ground up. It's been a labor of love, from the live edge pine countertops, reclaimed barn wood, farmhouse sink to custom stenciled floors and refinished rustic furniture! The bathroom was entirely gutted and replaced and new floors are throughout most of the entire place. It is a charming combination of old and new and we are continuing to make it the best we can in between guests! The bathroom was entirely gutted and replaced and new floors are throughout most of the entire place. It is a charming combination of old and new and we are continuing to make it the best we can in between guests! We have not yet been able to do anything with the landscape, so it is reasonably organic (read as wild!)- tons of berries, fruit trees, nut trees and grapes during the warmer months, which you are welcome to explore and pick! All the dwellings on our property are filtered gravity fed spring water and some of the purest to drink and mineralize your body with. We are still doing work on our main house and other dwellings on the property, so there are occasionally materials that can only be seen from the driveway. The cottage itself is surrounded by trees, and ivy and with a small deck that faces the driveway has been wrapped in bamboo for upmost privacy. The cottage is a stones throw from our main house, so if you are looking for complete seclusion this may not be the best spot for you. The entire property sits on 3 acres and contains a tiny house, art studio, woodshop and is a mere 16 minute drive to downtown Asheville. Please read house description and rules in its entirety, so you can decide if it’s a fit, as we want you to be comfortable and happy! We are a family with kids and dogs and live in a country setting, so be sure that is something you are on board with. There are multiple sleeping options, however, there are not 5 separate beds, the sitting room with the daybeds has an open space to the kitchen, so please make sure the layout works for you! ***PETS*** We are pet friendly and would like to remain that way, so we ask if you are bringing a pet, to be a responsible, rule abiding pet owner. If you would like to bring your pet, please send us a request beforehand with pet breed, size and age along with acknowledgement that you have read pet rules. We charge a non-refundable $50 pet fee per pet. Pets CANNOT at any time be left unattended. We offer an additional low-fee pet sitting service, please contact us if you’d like more information as we have a separate site. We ask that only well behaved, fully house trained, non-aggressive pets stay, so we can remain a pet friendly space for other people. Please do clean up after your pet. We do have our own dogs on the other side of the fence and kids, so please no animals that will be a problem for. There are some trails in the back of the cottage that can be walked as well as a long dirt road. We do our best to keep the cottage stocked with housewares and extra goodies to make your stay more comfortable. If it is there, you are welcome to use it. Please note there is no microwave or AC. We do have a septic system and have provided organic soaps and cleaning items are you to need them. There is a full kitchen with new SS appliances and mostly anything you should need to cook! You will also find an electric tea kettle and French press to help you get going in the morning! We do ask that you leave everything in the condition that you found it. The living room has a couch that can be arranged to sleep 1-2 people depending on size of people and configuration! It is a firmer sleeping area, so please keep that in mind for your travel group! The living room is a sustainable bamboo floor, and has a wood stove that can be utilized in colder months. There is a 40 inch TV with guest Netflix and Hulu accounts (no cable though- sorry!). There is a slider with a small enclosed deck to enjoy your morning coffee or stargaze at night. There is no light pollution out here and on clear nights it’s a planetarium! Off the kitchen is a sitting room that contains a daybed and trundle with two twin mattresses. The mattresses are cushy and all beds are in zippered, dustmite proof, washable covers. There is a sliding barn door that leads to the master bedroom and bathroom, which are fully private. The master bedroom has a queen organic memory foam and bamboo bed, also encased in an allergy proof, washable cover. There is a full size closet, and dresser. The bathroom has been completely remodeled, but is on the smaller size and does not have a bathtub. Please make sure this is ok with you. We have done our best to utilize the bathroom for space, but if you are looking for a big bathroom for your bathing needs, or are an Amazon, this may not be the space for you. The cottage is surrounded by trees and ivy and although close to our main house, we’ve tried to make it feel as private as possible. We continue to put a lot of love and artistry in it and if you like funky, eclectic cozy and comfy, and don’t mind a mix of old and new, it should be a great fit! More

Interaction with guests
We are a busy family and you may see or hear us come and go since our parking area is across from yours. Text is generally the fastest, best way to reach us. We deeply respect your privacy and will leave you be, but we are happy to engage if you have any questions or needs! You may occasionally meet one of our escapee dogs or children, despite a bark or curious look they are super friendly. We rent out our tiny house up the hill to our dear friend who is well known in Asheville for his famous PURE FIRE fire cider you will see in many shops. You may also see one of us walking up the hill as we have a wood shop and art studio we like to spend time in!

About the neighbourhood
We live in the country! Please note that means there are wild critters, butterflies, bees, bugs- you name it! They occasionally get inside the cottage. If you hear a shrill scream, it is because a spider found its way in to ours! It is not uncommon to see bears, bunnies and a host of other wildlife. We are 16 minutes from downtown Asheville and downtown Weaverville is 6 minutes away and boasts great cafes, galleries and restaurants- definitely check it out if you can. We love having the best of both worlds at our fingertips. If you are looking to stay in the peace of nature, but not be too far out, we are an ideal location. There is no public transportation and you will need a car. I believe you can Uber here no problem, but that would
Getting around
Outside of Uber there is no public bus system here. There is a parking spot in front of the cottage and if for some reason you have two cars please let us know in advance and we will arrange our parking accordingly
