The master suite includes a hot tub for weekly rentals (drained and cleaned after each week's rental) and an entertainment center with DVD/VCR/TV and movie library. (NOTE: The hot tub is unavailable during the pandemic.) Our full kitchen has all the amenities for cooking and complete sets of dishes. It has a full stove and oven, dishwasher, toaster, toaster oven, coffeemaker, and microwave. It adjoins a breakfast nook with a bay window overlooking the gardens. There are 4 chairs, a table, and a small counter for easy eating. Across from the nook is an open den, with a wild animal theme. (It has a day bed which sleeps two children, with owner's approval, and would incur an extra charge of $22 per person, per night, with a maximum of 6 people total in the home.) There is a half bath on the other side of the room. Additional people (2) are with the owner's approval only. There is an acre pond on our preserve and we are happy to provide you with fish food to feed our friendly koi. Foxes, raccoons, opossums, turkey, deer and bunnies are frequent visitors. Eco Cove is located on a state maintained road, 1/2 mile from 70 Highway, and 10 minutes from Old Fort or Marion with shopping, restaurants and bars. Lake James and 2 waterfalls are also very close by. We are 20 minutes from Black Mountain or Morgantown, and 30 minutes from Asheville, our favorite city in the south. This area of Western North Carolina is known for its festivals, waterfalls, hiking trails, food, breweries, vineyards and, of course, the Biltmore House. We think the natural beauty of our National Wildlife Certified Cove is at the top of the list. At Eco Cove you are surrounded by tranquility and beauty. It is its own paradise.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Eco Cove
Beautiful setting, beautiful home in the foothills to the Blue Ridge Area! Very clean and spacious! Loved the front porch with rockers and a glider as well as patio type chairs! At the end of what appears to be a box canyon. ( Lots of trees and shrubs so hard to tell). Creek running down the side of the property and we saw hummingbirds and butterflies during the day and fireflies in the evening! Pretty place and secluded! We would stay there again!

Thank you for your review! It’s called a Cove, with meadows and hills leading up the mountain behind us. It is 117 acres of undisturbed beauty, with the Pisgah National Forest our neighbor to the north. We so enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you again. Best regards, Gabrielle

Great place to decompress
This is a great location to decompress and escape the modern world. House is great and come fully equipped with all necessary items for the stay and the setting is beautiful. The lake is serene and provide great entertainment for the kids (feeding the fish). Location is close to the Blue ridge parkway and a multitude of attractions. Great place and we will definitely go back.

Extreme Relaxation
The owners of Eco-Cove are helpful and knowledgeable. The home is beautifully appointed with artifacts from around the world. The location exudes serenity. It a perfect place to stay and enjoy the local surroundings and wildlife. Also, many trails, waterfalls, and mountain attractions are nearby. The charming town of Marion, with its unique shops and restaurants is also worth exploring. I look forward to returning to Eco-Cove to discover more of what this idyllic area has to offer.

Beautiful,quiet getaway spot
Eco Cove is a great location for day trips to Asheville, Mt. Mitchell, the Biltmore House, etc. and many other Western North Carolina attractions. The house is super clean and very comfortable. The surrounding property is beautiful. The owners could not be nicer or more helpful. We have stayed here more than once and are planning another visit soon.

This sanctuary isn’t just for the birds
This was my third annual trip to Eco Cove - that’s how much I love this lush NC mountain escape. Spending time on this beautiful property - surrounded by nature and wildlife - is so recharging, and nothing beats a sunny float on the pond in the summer. Gabrielle and Ed are the sweetest hosts and always make me feel right at home, like I’m visiting family. Pro tip: Be sure to ask Ed and Gabrielle about the history of the property (spoiler alert: There was once moonshine in those hills!) and their amazing adventures aboard the Satori!

Thank you so much! We are always so glad to see you and share our paradise with you. Our local town of Marion is growing with restaurants, pubs, breweries, and art in the past 3 years. We are getting more visitors to "the gateway to the mountains." Asheville is only 30 minuets away but is hosting 10,000 visitors a day, so our little private cove is a great retreat from the city. Life is good! And guests like you make it spectacular!

Beautiful Gardens and very clean
Family friendly with lots of activities nearby. We stayed over July 4th weekend. My kids love catching fireflies in the gorgeous garden. The home was very large, very clean and well maintained. We would definitely visit again.

Pleasantly Surprised!
This was one of the "neatest" places I've ever stayed! I lived in the area where the house is located and never knew such an adorable home was there! Each room is so unique. So much to see, interesting pictures and 'odd' pieces to enjoy. The house was absolutely spotless. I look forward to going back and sitting on that peaceful porch! Thanks Gabrielle and Ed for providing this wonderful place in the woods!

Great home, warm feel
We loved this house. The set up is so warm and inviting and it is clean clean clean. You are located at the end of the road right by the national forest, very secluded but close enough to food and supplies that it's not isolated. We wished we could stay longer.

About the neighbourhood
Deer, a variety of birds, bunnies, waterfowl, turkeys, squirrels, and the occasional red fox or bear are our only neighbors as they pass through our property. We own ridge to ridge in our cove, backed up next to the national forest. Our acre pond has five pound koi that love to be fed from our dock, which is part of our sunset enjoyment. Bull frogs and peepers sing in our small ponds, and fireflies light up the meadows with their dance. The stars compete overhead, and the dock is a great place to watch the firmament. There is no better place to unwind and enjoy nature than Eco Cove. Yet we are minutes away from many tourist attractions. We keep detailed information on hand so you can make the most of your stay, seeing all you have time for, but knowing you'll have to return to see it all!
Getting around
We are 1/2 mile from Highway 70, 5 minutes from groceries and 7 minutes to Marion or Old Fort. We are the gateway to the mountains. Lake James is about 15 minutes away as are Black Mountain and Morgantown. Linville and Asheville are about 30 minutes. Restaurants abound, hiking, art centers, waterfalls, zip lines, snowboarding, kids play centers, shopping, and everything you'd want to see and do on a vacation in Western North Carolina is nearby!
