If Whiteface Mountain and The Ausable River are your destination, Whiteface Brookside Cottage in New York State's beautiful Whiteface region of the Adirondacks is the vacation home for your family. Whiteface Brookside Cottage features three bedrooms with queen size beds, a fourth bedroom with a bunk bed, a comfortable futon in the family room, two full baths, a large kitchen and dining area with dishwasher, range and oversized fridge, and a spacious living/family room with a brick fireplace, TV, DVD player, and CD player. The bunk room is a pass through to one of the others, ideal for the first to rise in the morning, or young people who sleep through anything.

This is our second year in the Brookside Cottage and we LOVE it!
We are a family of 5 and have been coming to this area for many years now, every year. We like to rent different cottages for the experience of it, however, we decided to return to the Brookside cottage and will be doing it next year again.
With three small children, the cleanliness (e.g. brand new dish sponge) is something that ranks high on our list. Kitchen is well equipped, laundry has good washer and dryer, the covered porch is amazing. We like the layout and the spirit of the house, it is warm and inviting.
Our children enjoyed exploring the trail in the backyard and we felt safe letting them play on the porch while we were setting the table for our breakfasts there while watching the sun go up.
Jon and Nicole are excellent hosts, kind, friendly and accommodating.
We will see you next year and looking forward to it.

Perfect location and has everything
This was the perfect location for visiting Whiteface Mountain, Santa's Workshop and Lake Placid. The cottage had everything you could ask for and is perfect for a large family. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again if ever in the area.

Excellent cottage in a great location
Whiteface Brookside cottage has everything you want for a get away. The living space is fantastic with a great fireplace. There were 5 of us and you never get in each others way. There's the babbling brook that you can hear while you sit around the firepit in the backyard. Just 15 minutes from downtown Lake Placid which we took full advantage of. This was the second time we have stayed there and it will not be our last!

Our annual (Canadian) Thanksgiving getaway
This is our sixth stay at this wonderful cottage, in a fantastic location. The cottage is so close to many fantastic hikes (of all levels), the village of Wilmington, Lake Placid. The owners have always been helpful with suggestions for the area, and very accommodating. The cottage is spacious, well appointed and feels like home away from home.
Would highly recommend renting this property.

Cozy Cottage in the Adirondack
The Brookside Cottage was perfect for our family get together. Great location, cottage was clean, beds were comfy, all the amenities we needed. Jon was very helpful in providing recommendations for hikes, groceries,restaurants etc. Will definitely stay there again.

Great base for a High Peaks vacation
I wavered between 4 & 5 stars ... it's not a waterfront property; doesn't have an air hockey table or a swimming pool or some other luxuries that would have made it a slam dunk, but it's a charming cottage in a great location that's very affordable and the end result was an excellent week spent in the High Peaks area.
Our family just got home from a nice stay at the Brookside cottage. The location was close to ideal for our adventures - we visited Ausable Chasm and drove up Whiteface - on the other side, we visited Lake Placid (skated at the Olympic Center), Saranac Lake (kayaked and visited the Saranac Laboratory museum), Lake Clear (horseback riding) and Tupper Lake (the Wild Center). To the south, we drove to Keene Valley and enjoyed the quick & easy Roaring Brook Falls trail and a walk down to Chapel Pond. And right close to the cottage, we visited High Falls Gorge, Whiteface (gondola ride) and, of course, the very fun swimming hole at the Flume.
There were only four of us, but my daughter and her friend liked the adjoining bedrooms. We ate in twice (one night out on the awesome front porch) and enjoyed the fire pit in the back yard. The cottage is set back from the road and it was very quiet. There were many brochures, magazines and books on the Adirondacks as well as other books, games and DVDs (we didn't make use of those, but my daughter did listen to some music over the CD player). The bedrooms were nice, but the highlights were the kitchen with the long wall of windows, and the living room with fireplace and cathedral ceiling. Even though we didn't use the fireplace (we had windows open most of the week at the end of August), we spend our evenings reading books in the living room.
I can easily see this being a great place to stay for a winter ski vacation, too, being so roomy and close to Whiteface.

Family-friendly home away from home
We have stayed in this cottage with our six children many times over the last 10 summers. Plenty of room for everyone (adults, teenagers, kids), great porch for enjoying morning coffee (with the hummingbird), meals, board games on a rainy day. 2 minute drive to the fantastic Wilmington Town beach (with lifeguard and boat rentals). Convenient to so much, but far enough to make this a peaceful retreat. It is so great to have a full kitchen, laundry, extra bathroom, fire pit, lots of seating, cable TV - all the comforts of home, but surrounded by the beautiful mountains. The owners are great communicating with renters and take great care of the home. Our whole family looks forward to staying here each year (the kids always ask - are we staying at "our" cottage?) - It really is our favorite place to go for our family vacation.

Perfect location for exploring Whiteface & High Peaks
The location was perfect for us w/ many miles of hiking trails all within a short drive of the cottage (and the beautiful trails for Whiteface are so close!). The Wilderness Inn next door has great steaks and we loved having drinks on the Ausable river at Mcdougal's. The cottage itself was very spacious with a lot of character. We enjoyed spending time in the great room & on the front porch. The large kitchen came in handy too when we wanted to stay in and cook.

Spacious, cozy and very relaxing!
We loved our stay at brookside cottage! The house has a large front porch with ample space to lounge or have a meal with family. The backyard fire pit, with surrounding Adirondack chairs, was a great way to end our day after exploring Lake Placid and hiking on the nearby trails.

We are located exactly two miles from Whiteface, the Olympic Mountain. You'll find our beautiful sandy town beach and an amazing Adirondack swimming hole nearby...each just .8 mile in opposite directions. The Flume Mountain Bike Trail system is just down the street.
Lake Placid is just ten miles away, with its unique combination of great restaurants and shopping, along with skating on the Olympic Oval, roaring down the Olympic Bobsled track, visiting the Olympic Ski Jumps or the site of the 1980 American Olympic Hockey victory over the Soviet Union.
Climb the 46 Adirondack High Peaks, including Whiteface and Esther right from the cottage.
Getting around
*Bicycle into Lake Placid and beyond on the Ironman bicycle route.
