The home has a lounge room, dining room, spacious kitchen, large covered outdoor entertaining area, laundry and the bathroom features a deep bath with shower and even a ceiling heater for winter! The wood heater provides a cosy ambiance during the winter months, in addition to the reverse-cycle air conditioning ensuring your comfort at all times. In the library, there are books to read and board/card games and a new 55" smart TV for those who want to watch the footy! The two bedrooms have built in robes and queen size beds - the main bedroom has a new medium to firm mattress and the 2nd bedroom has a new medium to soft mattress (January 2025). This is a wonderful period timber cottage c1940’s with jarrah floor boards and native wood used throughout, 13ft ceilings with bonus ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Great views from ALL the windows - you would never believe you were in the centre of Bridgetown! AMBIENCE: You can soak up the relaxing atmosphere and be as lazy as you want with plenty of dining establishments close at hand just a short stroll down the hill. The outdoor entertaining area offers beautiful panoramic views overlooking the valley. Spend your days reading on the front or back veranda or venture out and visit the local wineries, cidery or for a stroll along the Blackwood river - there is a canoe available for use by prior arrangement. The home has been furnished with the utmost care to make your visit here a home from home with high quality furnishings, linen & kitchenware. All amenities are provided: linen, towels, microwave, stove, large fridge in the kitchen and one on the veranda for the drinks! Cooking you would expect to make your stay comfortable.....TV in the lounge room; DVDs, games, stereo (with ipod dock), hair dryer. Laundry features include front loading washing machine, clothes dryer an iron and ironing board. Parking a plenty for all size vehicles. LOCATION: “Walnut Cottage” is situated in the centre of town, set in beautiful gardens, plenty of fruit trees and vegies growing in the veggie patch to enjoy. Situated in the heart of the Blackwood River Valley, there are great scenic drives for both motor bikes, cars or mountain bike riding throughout the countryside ranging from 3km to 50km. For the nature lovers there are excellent walking trails through the Bridgetown and surrounding areas and Dorothy Scott’s Bush reserve area is across the road. Bridgetown is an amazing treasure in the south west with rolling hills, forests and tranquillity. It's a small town located in a picturesque valley. The town centre is lively, with quality cafes, restaurants, wineries and boutiques. It has a long running annual Blues Festival in November plus many other art and cultural events throughout the year. Events to consider booking Walnut Cottage for are: Bridgetown Tennis Tournament: Easter Blues at Bridgetown: 1st weekend of November, Blues at Bridgetown is one of the longest running music festivals in Australia and the most established Blues Festival in Western Australia Taste of Blackwood Bridgetown: in August, The major food and wine festival in the Blackwood Valley; celebrating culture, fine food and award winning wines. Bridgetown Winter Festival. The winter festival is held June through to August every year in the picturesque Blackwood Valley township of Bridgetown … the winter capital of Western Australia. Blackwood Marathon Bridgetown, in October Festival of country gardens Bridgetown in October Darts tournament Bridgetown in January Manjimup Motorcross, Australia's Most Prestigious Outdoor Motocross Event held annually at the Cosy Creek Circuit on the Foundation Day long weekend in Manjimup Nannup Folk Festival in March, The festival is held over the WA Labour day long weekend annually, over which time the streets come alive with stalls, performances and activities Boyup Country Music Festival in February, is the premier Country Music Event in Western Australia Balingup Medieval Festival in August.
