We are a family of five: Two parents and 3 boys of 12, 14 end 16. We stayed almost 3 weeks in villa Damai Manis at the quite villa-area of Seminyak, which is a bit North of hectic Kuta. We hired the villa with BaliHolidayVilla dot com. Excellent service.
We had a fantastic time at Bali. The villa was everything you could wish for. More than enough seats and sofa’s for all. Large living room that was partly open, which gave you the feeling of being outside but also inside. There was a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, a garden and off course a swimming pool.
Interesting enough – without realizing what it was - we had a complementary “butler service”. Which means that there are 2 nice ladies, Wayan and Puttu, who took care of everything. They come in to make breakfast at the time you want that. Clean everything up afterwards, clean the villa and make up the beds. Make coffee or smoothies or fresh fruits. They go home around 6 p.m. But when you arrive late from the airport they are there.
At the beginning it felt a bit strange, like being in a restaurant all day, but after a few days we got used to it and Wayan and Puttu had their own room at the villa which makes them invisible during the day but when you needed them, they were there. They do shopping for things you want. They never said “no” to us, in fact everything was possible. Very professional service. You can also asked them to cook an authentic Balinese meal for you. If you rather have pizza, you can order a pizza and have it delivered to the villa in 30 mins.
The villa was located in a small alee, away from the hectic streets and buzzing day- and night life. Still a few minutes’ walk to the very busy “restaurant street” with many, many restaurants and bars. It was sometimes difficult to find an authentic Balinese food restaurant, but we found them and the food was excellent. But also trendy lunch rooms which service wide variety of sandwiches and veggie food are to be found there.
Both during night and day we never ever felt uncomfortable or unsafe at the streets.
The beach is 10 mins by taxi which cost 3 to 4 euro. During rush hour it can take up to 30 mins to reach the beach. Which is about the time you need to walk to the beach thru the narrow streets of Seminyak.
The beach is nice. Enough beds for rent, a lot of small and bigger bars and restaurants. High waves which is a surfer’s paradise. You can take surfing lessons which is highly recommended and good fun.
If you want to see more than just Seminyak there is a very polite driver and car available, associated with the villa, who brings you everywhere you want for a very reasonable price. We used this service a lot to see temples, villages, rice fields, monkey forest, mountains, rivers, coffee- or plantations and the beach at the East side of Bali. He recommends places for lunch and we always ended up at nice places for lunch with often magnificent views.
For the art loving folks there is the town of Ubud, 1 ½ hour drive from Seminyak. Painter cooperation, silver, wood carving and batik. Also authentic Balinese dance shows and music.
For active people there is a lot to do at Bali: Bicycling, white water rafting, fishing, surfing, wakeboarding, para-sailing, yet skiing, fly fish, a huge swimming pools with very large sloops or just swimming. 30 min drive brings you to the water sport beaches at the South-East side which Is called Benoa Bay and Nusa Dua.
Shopping can be done in Kuta, 20 mins drive South of Seminyak. Here you find the big and modern shopping malls and many many small and bigger shops.
So, we had a great time at Villa Daiman Manis and Bali and would recommend it to everyone.
