Le Poulailler is one of four beautifully converted former outbuildings of the 18th century farmstead “La Domaine du Puech” overlooking the valley of the Auze river, which flows into the Lot in the nearby village of St Projet. Combining the original chicken house and chestnut store the gite has been sympathetically renovated to bring together the traditional features of the 18th century and the style of the 21st. The local schist stone walls with slate fishtail tiled roof particular to the area and the traditional chestnut timbers provide a dramatic backdrop to the comfortable modern fittings. The bathroom has a full sized bath with shower, washbasin and toilet. On the first floor is the converted 'secadou', originally the storehouse for the chestnut harvest. It offers a double bed and a single bed in one room with a chest of drawers and hanging space. The living area opens on to a private, secluded patio with table and chairs and a fully fenced (dog friendly) lawned garden with fruit trees. There is a barbecue and sun loungers. The 8 x 4 metre salt water pool surrounded with paving is in a secluded spot overlooking the valley views and is available for all the gite guests to enjoy whenever they wish. Sun loungers are available for relaxing. A fully equipped laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble dryer provides a shared facility for washing and drying. All bed linen and towels are provided and cleaning is included. Ample private parking is available on the site and Le Poulailler has free WiFi access. Cassaniouze is the nearest village, 5kms away, where there is a large lake for swimming, day ticket fishing or hiring a pedalo. A further 5kms takes you to Calvinet where you will find all the necessary services, pharmacy, bank, butchers and bakers. The area is geographically extreme and very beautiful with an enormous amount of views to take your breath away! The climate here can also be extreme, but being sheletered sheltered by the northern and easterly aspects of the Auvergne and Aubrac mountains, part of the Massid Central, we enjoy cold crisp snowy winters, stunning Springs, long hot summers (although due to the altitude night times are thankfully cool) and long spectaular warm autumns with day after day of blue skies. Whether you like walking, driving around to explore medieval villages, more sternous activity such as canoeing or horse riding, sampling the delights of the regional cuisine there is something for everyone.
