Holiday Rental House
The Black Dog Hideaway awarded the 2010 Historic Preservation Award, and located in Bozeman's Historic District. Our home is just 2 blocks from all that Downtown Bozeman has to offer, shopping, restaurants, bars, and even occasional street fairs. Only 2 blocks from Cooper Park, our neighborhood park, walking distance to Montana State University, and located only 25 minutes from our community ski hill, Bridger Bowl, an hour and a half from Yellowstone National Park, and a few minutes in any direction from a wealth of hiking, biking, fishing and any other outdoor activity you can imagine. Built in 1912, and historically renovated in the early 2000's, Black Dog Hideaway is your elegant and cozy home away from home. Come stay here and you will enjoy: brand new custom design wood floors....The Black Dog Hideaway awarded the 2010 Historic Preservation Award, and located in Bozeman's Historic District. Built in 1912, and historically renovated in the early 2000's, Black Dog Hideaway is your elegant and cozy home away from home. Come stay here and you will enjoy: brand new custom design wood floors. original wood trim and built -ins from this historical home’s first days. a huge, upstairs master bedroom suite complete with a natural stone walk in shower, and a whirlpool, soaking tub (with a built in tv screen!) gourmet kitchen with black granite counter tops and outfitted with everything you'll need including a dishwasher, double oven, trash compactor and pot filler over the stove. A covered backyard deck, fenced private backyard with a beautiful green lawn, native front yard landscaping, and two front porch swings. We are Johnny and Susan Kirkland, we live in New York, on Long Island's North Shore, most of the year, but all of our 4 children have moved out west and made it their home. So, we thought we should follow suit, we just aren't quite ready to leave New York full time yet. We bought our house and stay there several times per year, so you can be sure that all of the creature comforts are available to you. Susan is a retired Special Education Teacher, who still substitute teaches on a regular basis and Johnny is a Physicist and software developer. Since our children have gone, we've picked up a new hobby of raising guide dogs. We have successfully raised Josh, who is a working guide dog, and now we are raising London, a puppy in training, and we have Gretha, a black lab breeder dog, who lives with us all of the time. This is where our home's name comes from, The Black Dog Hideaway is a tribute to our love for our guide dogs and the important work they do. During your visit you may see our son John who takes care of the Black Dog Hideaway and lives in the private basement apartment with a separate entrance, or when you are making a reservation you'll talk to Sue who manages the home and bookings and is the owner. We fell in love with this house the moment we stepped inside, and we know that you will too! There are two adorable porch swings on the front porch, and the subtle character is amazing. Downstairs, you'll notice the original woodwork, and a beautiful stained glass lighting fixture over the dining room table. Upstairs was updated with comfort in mind. This house has the best of both worlds, old world history and modern updates and comforts. Plus, you can't beat the location, and proximity to downtown Bozeman! Please feel free to contact us anytime, we'd love to hear from you! Please enjoy the jetted tub with TV in the master bath. Also for your comfort we have installed baseboard heaters under each sink to warm you from the bottom up. In the master bedroom you will find a built -in wall heater for you additional comfort. The stereo is located in the master bedroom cherry closet, and can be heard throughout the second level on built -in speakers. In the living room, we have installed a 55 inch 3DTV with 3D glasses for 6. Original hardwood floors have been enhanced with walnut ribbon knots and refinished to their natural beauty. With the push of a button, you can enjoy our gas fireplace and enjoy a cozy relaxing atmosphere with family and friends. The kitchen has granite counter tops, double oven, pot filler over 5 burner gas stove, ice maker on the refrigerator door, double sink, and trash compactor. The walk to town is easy, and close, as is Cooper Park at only two blocks away. We have a covered backyard deck with outdoor table and chairs that seat 6 for added summer entertaining. The photographs displayed on our walls are original photos taken of our beautiful state, Montana, by a local photographer and are for sale. Getting around
My home is 10 miles from the airport so you will need to rent a car. When you arrive at my house you will see it is 2 blocks from Main Street. Bozeman is a very walkable town and getting around is easy and walking the streets of historic homes is lovely. If you are going to Yellowstone or other places out of town you will use your car.
