About the neighbourhood
Lovely country area covered in vineyards for the production of wine, cognac and pineau, with fields of sunflowers, wheat and corn interspersed with small wooded areas. Delightful views in all directions leading down to the Gironde estuary with areas of marshes, well known for its bird life, and several attractive little ports along the waters edge. You can head towards Royan for exceptional sandy beaches or a little further afield for crashing Atlantic rollers. Cross small stretches of water to the interesting island of Oleron and Ré. Go inland and visit the many historic towns towns like Pons, Cognac, Bordeaux, Saintes, St. Emilion etc. etc.
Getting around
Bikes are available to rent . We can organise that for you or you can arrange it yourselves. Your choice of bikes can be delivered direct to the house... and collected again before you go home. The excellent company we deal with offer bikes for all ages including tag along chariots for babies and toddlers. A great way to explore the lovely local area. Ask us for their website information.
