Casa Branca is a traditional Portuguese country dwelling that has recently been renovated while still retaining much of its 1800's original charm.

It is ideally suited for families taking a vacation or couples seeking a relaxing well-earned break to unwind.

Swim or just lounge by the private pool and have your meals “al fresco” on the terrace accompanied with your choice of the many excellent Portuguese wines, beers and fruit juices.

The owners live next door so are on hand to hand visitors their keys and to give advice. A folder with places to visit is supplied. Towels, both for the pool/beach and for washing, are supplied as is a welcome pack.

About the neighbourhood
Vila Nova de Poiares is a typical rural market town about 3 Km away from the cottage, with numerous shops, 3 supermarkets, banks and post office, the local market is held each Monday morning. Local activities include canoeing on Mondego River, fishing (licence costs €7), swimming, Go-kart, cycling, walking..

Many of the surrounding towns and villages hold festas, particularly throughout the summer, with traditional songs, food and dancing.

Vila Nova de Poiares is well serviced by excellent roads and motorways giving access to many places of interest, notably the magnificent Buccaco Palace Hotel, once the property of the Portuguese Royal family, where you can stroll in the gardens and explore the woodland pathways. Airport: Porto: 158.0 km
Railway: Coimbra B: 25.0 km
Ferry: Santander Port: 777.0 km
Fly BA, Easy Jet or TAP to Lisbon or Easyjet, BA, TAP or Ryan Air to Porto.
There are also other European airlines who fly into these airports.

From Porto the drive takes about an hour and a half, Lisbon around two hours. Alternatively relax on the excellent Intercity or the Alphapendula train from either city to Coimbra (approx €20 pp), collect your pre-booked hire car and take the N17 road to Vila Nova de Poiares then about 2 KM to Pereiro de Alem village.

We will send directions to help find us prior to you leaving home but if unsure of directions to Pereiro de Alem village call from Vila Nova Poiares town and we will meet up with you.
