Arrive at Goshree Bridge/Marine Drive after a drive of 45 minutes from the airport. Mangalavanam bird sanctuary is within walking distance from where you will be staying. You can even fish from the grounds of the complex. Clean upmarket neighborhood. You may take a walk along the water front abutting your place of stay, with the soft sea breeze caressing your face. Ice cream, bhel puri vendors are a plenty from 6 pm onwards. There are benches and soft music and songs flowing through hidden speakers. Visit many places of worship in the vicinity. Bolghatty Island is just across the water expanse view from your balcony Puthuvypeen beach is just 15 minutes away and you can view the strategic oil tank farm abutting the sea and also the LNG Terminal enroute. For the holy ones there is the National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Ransom, Vallarpadam also enroute to Puthuvypeen sea shore. Notice the fig tree in the church yard. Did you know that fig fruit grew at the base of the tree! Fort Kochi , a 30 minute drive is another must see when you are in Cochin. It has been a trading haven for more than two thousand years and hence the confluence of cultures is visible all around you. Make sure you catch the breathtaking sunset from the Fort Kochi beach. Go on a heritage walk showcasing the mixed Dutch, Portuguese, British and Jewish influences that make the city unique. Some of the sights include: 1. St Francis Church (India’s oldest European Church) built by the Portuguese Franciscan Friars. St. Francis CSI Church, in Fort Kochi, originally built in 1503, is the oldest European church in India and has great historical significance as a mute witness to the European colonial struggle in the subcontinent. Vasco da Gama's original grave is here and not to be missed. 2. The Chinese Fishing nets that Cochin is famous for 3. Fort Immanuel (the bastion of the Portuguese) 4. The Dutch Palace 5.
