The loft is located in the delightful village of Caprignana and offers a perfect base for exploring the region or relaxing around the pool with stunning views of the nearby Verrucole Fortress and Carrara Mountains. This is THE PLACE for an authentic Tuscan village experience away from the crowded tourist trail. The space The loft in the old barn is a beautifully converted open-plan contemporary space. The living area, kitchen and bathroom are at ground level, and the sleeping accommodation is on a partial mezzanine. The barn is attached to the village’s largest villa (available for rental for larger groups). The property is set on an acre of ground and comprises a twelve metre pool, an orchard and vegetable garden, along with a large furnished terrace. At ground level there is the kitchen with a bench made from a 250 kg piece of Carrara marble from the nearby mountains, a dishwasher, along with crockery and cutlery to cater for six to eight people. A large dining table has six chairs. The living room has two sofas, a television, speaker system and DVD player along with a selection of CDs and DVDs and streaming services. The barn has 20Mbps Wi-Fi. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet and bidet and a vanity unit. There is a washing machine, laundry sink, ironing board and iron. A clothes line is outside. Some emergency toiletries are provided along with a hair dryer. On the mezzanine level upstairs, there is a king sized bed and two single beds, along with a wardrobe, desk and blanket box. Guest access Guests have access to the converted barn, its terrace, the garden, the orchard and vegetable garden and, of course, the stunning pool. Parking is available in the adjacent village carpark. Other things to note Preferred change-over day for rentals is Saturday, and there is a minimum booking period of one week. The barn is available to rent between early May and late October. A local English-speaking cook, Mary, can enhance your experience and cook for you at a very reasonable cost, using local produce, often from her own garden. The pool is shared with the owner. There are no other rentals on this property.More

About the neighbourhood
Caprignana is a small village where life matters. Only about 60 inhabitants, they look after each other and a sense of real community often missing in current lives, is still present. In the next village you can visit a family run cheese factory. Down the road there is an adventure park where you can swing in the trees doing a ropes course. Everywhere there are daily village markets for your food, wonderful wine shops where you can buy a five litre pack of delicious red or white for a song, and the baker in the next town has the best bread on the planet. Everything is local and everything is fresh. You buy in season and eat the best of what is available.
Getting around
You'll have your own car and a map or sat nav and you'll receive a list of all the wonderful things to do in the area. The local railway station is Piazza al Serchio, just down the hill from the house, in the next town, if you have visitors coming in by train. You can also use a train to go to Lucca for the day, or Florence or the Cinque Terre. Italian rail is incredibly cheap.
