Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Unforgettable experience
Immaculate, beautifully designed and well-equipped self catering apartment with unrivalled views over St Margaret's Bay. Jenny is a kind and attentive host, with thoughtful touches like a welcome basket including wine, bread, jams and shortbread, plus a map of the best sights in the area. The outdoor private terrace overlooking the bay is ideal for breakfast or sundowners in the evenings. Great location close to beach (and friendly local beach pub The Coastguard) and footpaths to explore Cliffs Country. Highly recommended and we will definitely return.

Amazing weekend away
Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean with an amazing view. The little house is kitted out with everything you need. Jennie was amazing on arrival, told us everything we needed to know. We had a lovely weekend away and would love to come back again sometime.

Superb luxury Apartment with wonderful views.
Superb luxury apartment, immaculate and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable with every you can possibly need provided. All Covid protocols being carefully followed. Wonderful views over the sea to France even whilst laying in bed! In a lovely area with lots of great walks and places to visit. Welcome pack of bread milk jam and cereals on arrival. Hosts Tim and Jenny could not be more welcoming or helpful. Loved it so much I have just got back and immediately booked the same week here for next year.

Spotless, well-equipped, comfortable retreat with fabulous cross-channel views
Great location: only a quarter hour from Dover but St Margaret's Bay feels like a secluded village.
Great apartment: everything provided and works well, good layout, spotless and covid-secure.
Great welcome: attention to detail, concern for guests, helpful and welcoming.

Recommended without hesitation
This is a fabulous apartment in a lovely part of Kent. We had wondered if some of the reviews had overstated the case but, if anything, our expectations were exceeded.
The owners are lovely people and are highly professional in how they manage every aspect of the rental, giving us confidence right from the point of our booking enquiry. They detailed the extra measures they had taken to prepare the apartment in the light of the Covid and everything was spotless. Equipment levels are excellent and we were provided a generous and thoughtful welcome pack. Outstanding

Perfect!
We had the perfect week staying at Calais View and cannot recommend highly enough. Jenny and Tim are excellent hosts and their apartment is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The position is unbeatable, only a short walk to the bay, cafes/pubs and the south coast trail. We spent most of the week enjoying the views from the terrace, which is incredibly private and surrounded by beautiful plants. Even with the new rules due to Covid, everything was managed incredibly well and we felt very safe and confident that everything had been sanitised (but still felt very homely). Jenny and Tim were incredibly friendly and gave us excellent advice on what we might like to see and do and we were very sad to leave. In fact we loved it so much, we even got engaged here :) Thanks Jenny and Tim, we'll definitely come back one day!

Exceptional, we'll be back
A lovely place to stay; Owners, Jenny & Tim couldn’t be kinder or more accommodating and they keep the place absolutely spotless. Very nicely appointed with newer appliances & TV, very comfortable bed and furniture and a wonderful view of the English Channel with Calais, France in the distance. Very good, roomy parking right across the quiet lane from the town house apartment.
This would be an excellent get away if Coronavirus is a concern. It’s a rural setting with beautiful, uncrowded walks near by along the tops of the White Cliffs of Dover. Or one can walk along the water’s edge where people look for fossils & interesting rocks. A restaurant & a tea house are short walks away & the village of St. Margaret at Cliffe is at the top of the hill where there’s a Norman Church, several pubs serving food, a couple tea houses and a small but well stocked grocery store.
Beware: a neighbor recently opened a holiday rental also called Calais View. If not illegal certainly unscrupulous in my book. The place we stayed & the one I recommend is Calais View Garden Apartment. At the bottom of the stairs leading to town house is a sign that says “Calais View Cottage”.
