Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Quite an experience
Lovingly restored village home with all the modern comforts . We went during the monsoons so enjoying the torrential mountain rains from inside the cottage was an out of the world experience not to mention the lush greenery that surrounds you .
It’s absolutely quiet out there , Air diamond like and the food absolutely ravishing. Frankly we did not expect that standard in the middle of no where . You can either opt to drink bottled water or mountain stream water . We opted for the latter and did not regret .
We went for a trek to the nearby 7th century Jageshwar temples . And the ASI site museum . We went at a time when there was hardly any people around . So walking amongst the millennia old temples surrounded by century old deodar trees was a bliss . There is an intoxicating smell that hangs in the mountain air - mix of deodar wood , pine cones and a 1000 other things which I find mesmerising . While returning we jumped into a mountain stream and soothed our bodies in fresh , cold Himalayan stream water .
Few things to watch out for . It’s a long drive from Gurgaon . With stoppages in the middle it’s going to take around 11 hours .
The road ends near a temple after that there is a 2-3 km dirt track and it may not be for the faint hearted , specially during the monsoons . I am told that the roads are ok during non monsoon months . The dirt track ends around 200 m away from the hotel and then you have to walk through a narrow mountain path . It’s all a part of the experience but you need to know what to expect . Nothing in the hotel description prepares you for that .
After the sun sets you will have nothing to do - so ensure that you have interesting company with you . They have a small library and board games if that what interests you . It would be wise to carry a insect repeller - keep in mind the cottage is in the middle of the Himalayan pine forests .
The staff are amazing ( all of them ) and they will go out of their way to help you . Dinesh ( the owner) is an absolutely amicable person and I learnt this is first venture . Hats off to him to have the courage to follow his heart .
A little bit of intelligent landscaping around the cottage and having an arrangement of flower pots in front of each of the windows ( the rot iron holders you see protruding below the windows holding the flower pots ) can make this place even more beautiful . Just a thought .
Overall we were there with friends and we absolutely loved this experience . On our way back we stopped at Almora ( which was a waste of time - crowded and congested ) , and the rock paintings which deserves a look . There are no guides but you can see the figures painted in red when our ancestors lived in caves . There is a flight of stairs that takes you on the top of the rock and the view is pretty .

Peaceful, homely, adventurous experience
A different experience. Totally offbeat, yet very homely. The food is exceptional & the hospitality of caretakers as well. A good trek till the Jageshwar temple and the village nearby. Perfect for getting away from the busy life and getting some peaceful time for self.

Perfect place to rejuvenate
A beautiful property in a perfect location at Naikana Village (Almora). The views from room are exceptional beautiful. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms and bathrooms, wonderful food, and nothing is too much to ask for the team. A massive thank to all! Stay at Kot Naikana-By Mountways is itself a experience. I also had a great tracking experience with Govind (Working at Kot Naikana). Tracking up to Jageswar Dham via Koteswar Village was the best part of my two days stay. I must acknowledge Dhan Singh for serving a delicious food.
