About the neighbourhood
Airton is situated in Malhamdale, just 3 miles from Malham's spectacular cove and tranquil tarn. Rocky steps take you to the limestone pavement from which you can enjoy stunning views across the dale. The beautiful pool and tumbling waterfall at Janet's Foss are a gentle and picturesque contrast to the force of nature that is Gordale Scar. Not for the faint-hearted, the footpath here ascends the scar via the waterfall before continuing to the birdwatcher's paradise at Malham Tarn. Caverns can be explored at Ingleborough and Pateley Bridge. Pony trekking and hacking are available at nearby Kilnsey. Children will be enchanted at Wensleydale's Forbidden Corner and teenagers can Go Ape on the high ropes at Dalby Forest. Other attractions nearby include a falconry centre, medieval castle...
Getting around
The area is well-served wih public transport; there are railway stations at Gargrave (3 miles), Skipton and Settle. There is a twice-daily bus service through the village between Skipton and Malham.
