Holiday Rental House
The Gîte is a beautifully renovated 1 bedroom cottage, it sleeps 2/5 persons. It has a large bedroom with a seated area, kitchen, dining and sitting room area, with a bed settee, single divan bed, bathroom and separate WC. It has its own fenced and furnished garden with a barbecue. It is surrounded by farmland and is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle, bustle and pollution of modern day life. The benefits are vast; you can sit out in the evening and appreciate the wonders of rural living. The sunsets are stunning and the skies at night are clear and full of stars. There is no light pollution to spoil this magical spectacle of the night sky. You can wander the lanes and tracks that surround the Gîte and obtain the full benefit of this beautiful part of France....The Gîte is a beautifully renovated 1 bedroom cottage, it sleeps 2/5 persons. We are situated in Nouvelle Aquitaine on the border between the Haute Vienne and the Vienne. We have easy access to Haute Vienne, Creuse and Corrèze and also the Vienne. Markets are held in all the local villages each week selling local produce all year round. They are more frequent during the summer months. A very large regional market takes place at Les Herrolles around the 29th of each month. It is reported that this is the largest market in France. Here you can buy anything from clothes, to food, to livestock and cookware. Les Herolles, is 20 minute drive away from Fanfreda Gîte. If it is the history of the region that you are interested in then this area will interest you. Chateaux, cathedrals and monuments are abundant in the area. Chateau Bourg-Archambault is only a 5 minute drive away and La Collégiale, at Le Dorat built in 1060 only 15 minutes south of us. The region's capital, Limoges, situated on the banks of the Vienne, is 1-hour drive south. It offers a magnificent cathedral and gardens, world famous porcelain, enamel, restaurants, theatres and a spectacular medieval quarter, with cobble stone walkways and fascinating architecture. If beach activities are your thing then visit - Lac de Saint-Pardoux – Santrop has a sand beach with a safe roped off swimming area, activity swimming pool opened in May 2017, beach games, inflatables, fitness trail, beach volleyball, petanque, pedal boats rental, canoes and boats. They have recently built, 'Tree & Adventure' it is on the site of Santrop. This Acrobatic Forest Park offers several original courses; it is fun and suitable for everyone.More

Interaction with guests
We like to greet our guests and show them around the gite when they arrive. We provide walking and cycling maps for our local area. We also have a collection of tourist information leaflets for both the Haute Vienne and Vienne areas. We do also provide a welcome pack for guests, which outlines attractions varying from historic sites to country pursuits. We do like to leave guests to enjoy there stay, but we are situated next door to the gite and are always willing to give advise and information.

About the neighbourhood
If what you love is nature then you will love the Nouvelle Aquitaine region. Wildlife abounds with birds of prey, pine martyns, deer and wild boar common in the areas adjacent to the gîte. The Brenne National Parks are 1-hour north and are famous for their abundant waterfowl In the summer you will find a host of things to do – there is family horse racing at Le Dorat, sports, racing car and motorbike racing at the track at Circuit du Val de Vienne, near L'isle Jourdain. Music and dance festivals are held annually in Bellac and Confolens.
Getting around
A car is essential as we are very rural. We have no Bus routes near the gite. There are train stations at Le Dorat and La Souterraine. In Le Dorat the line runs south into Limoges and north into Poitiers. La Souterraine the lines runs south into Limoges and north into Paris. For exercise there are walking and cycling routes right on our door step. We provide maps for your use. Bring your own cycle or hire one from us at a reasonable price.
