Rose Cottage is a tiny delightful secluded lower cottage, tucked away behind another building in George Street in Millport, on the little island of Cumbrae. We accept up to two dogs .The cottage has a compact combined kitchen/ living area, and a large bedroom, and the day bed in the bedroom can also be used as a comfortable couch. The addition of a Smart TV in each room means that you can use either room as a living room, depending on your party size and age span. Please note the cottage is very small- three guests is the absolute maximum, and this is probably best comprised of 2 adults and 1 child. As all the beds are in the only bedroom, it's not really suitable for three adults. .Single guests or couples are very welcome. There is a shower room, and the cottage also benefits from a pretty private( ie for your sole use ) garden. This garden is partly shaded, apart from a table and benches area near the front door, making it perfect for your dog to relax in after a trip to the nearby beach. The garden boundry has two walls of stone, and one hedge ,,with a mesh fence of three foot, plus a three foot mesh fence which has a gate to the common area of garden. Although we would never say it's escape proof, it should contain your dog! The sunny shared garden ( shared only with my upstairs neighbour) has sheltered seating behind an old stone wall for you to enjoy a peaceful cup of afternoon tea, and listen to the birds singing. .Millport is a charming Victorian seaside town, easily reached by a ten minute ferry from Largs, itself only a forty five minute train journey from Glasgow. It can be reached by car from Glasgow in about an hour. The island boasts many beautiful beaches and walks, plus a golf course, and even it's own Cathedral. It's an ideal destination for a traditional bucket and spade holiday, but also attracts nature lovers, cyclists and diving enthusiasts. Please note that due to pricing restrictions on this site, your quote for a four or five day break may not be accurate- please contact me for a final price. The final price may well be a little lower! Please contact me if you'd like a different arrival day. As we have several properties on the island, I can sometimes changeover on different days. Out of high season ,arrival and departure days ,we are very flexible.More

About the neighbourhood
Millport is a charming Victorian town, the only one on the tiny Island Of Great Cumbrae. It;s many beaches, all of which are dog friendly, are a great place to spot seals in the winter, or enjoy a family holiday in the summer. Rose Cottage is in George Street, and this street runs parallel to the seafront, one street back from the promenade, making it a quieter location than a seafront apartment. The nearest beach is the broad sweep of Kames Bay, about five minutes walk from the cottage, or head the other direction and enjoy the tranquility of the Cathedral and it;s grounds, covered in wild garlic at the beginning of May. Millport has plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes, and some shops and a small supermarket, please note there is no petrol station on the island.A car is not necessary, a...
Getting around
the whole of Millport town can be easily walked in about twenty minutes, from the wide sweep of sand at Kames Bay, down the main st to the old Harbour. A network of little streets branch off these. A car is not needed unless you have mobility problems, and if you want to visit the beaches outside the town- why not hire a bike to do this? There are ample bike shops in the town. There is a taxi service ( cards in the cottage ) if you miss the bus to the ferry.
