The 2 guest bedrooms are seldom rented at the same time so chances are you will not even have to share the bathroom. Although each room comfortably sleeps 2 people, they are most often occupied by a single guest so the house remains quiet and doesn't feel crowded. Our guest bedrooms have just been renovated. They are bright, airy, comfortable and nicely decorated and furnished. We keep them clean and welcoming. They all have a queen size bed, a large closet where you can store your luggage and hang your clothes, a chest with 4 large drawers, a desk with a chair. Each bedroom has its own mini-fridge and freezer and a microwave oven. A ceiling fan will keep you cool during the summer months and central heating warm in the winter. The nicely tiled bathroom has been recently redone and has a tub. We provide all the linen. If you wish to rent the 2 bedrooms at the same time, you will need to initiate 2 separate requests on this site. Just look for our sister bedroom’s ad: Just Like Home #2. You can also rent our sister apartment that sleeps 4 and save money: 'Just Like Home'. ACCESS Our guests have the full run of the house except our and our son's bedroom and our bathroom. You have access to the kitchen, the dining room. You will be given a set of keys and you are free to come and go as you please. There is no curfew. We just ask you to be respectful of the other occupants if you come back in the middle of the night. The few “common sense” house rules we have are also designed to ensure the safety, comfort, and peace and quiet of all residents. Our house sits on a large lot with a front yard. Behind the house, we have a couple of rental apartments (of which “Just Like Home” that can also be rented through this website) so you may bump into our long-term tenants on our property. Our gated lot is surrounded by a 7-foot wall to ensure privacy and safety. PARKING If you come by car, you will be able to park on our street in front of the house. There is always plenty of space and parking is totally free. CHECK-IN & CHECKOUT Check-in time is between 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm at a time mutually agreed in advance between host and guest. Regardless of the circumstances, you will not be able to check in after 10 pm and will have to find alternative accommodation for that night. You will not be entitled to any refund for that night. If you are planning on taking the red eye and arriving in the middle of the night, this listing is not for you. While we will endeavor to accommodate your desired check-in time, it might not be possible all the time, especially on weekends and holidays. Also, note that we most likely will have to come back home on purpose to greet you and let you in at the convened time. We, therefore, ask you to be respectful and immediately keep us posted in case of delay so that we can amend our plans and avoid having to rush back home for nothing. Please don’t make spur of the moment stops along the road and have us wait for nothing. In rare instances, we will accept a check out past 10 pm. In such cases, a late check-in fee of $40, payable cash, will be due upon arrival. Checkout time is 10:00 am. LOCATION We are located on a quiet residential street and are surrounded by a number of schools and family homes. Directly across our house sits a daycare center. We are conveniently located close to 2 main freeways (110 and 105) in the southern part of the city of Los Angeles, central to most places. We are only 15 minutes away from LAX International Airport. You will find bus stops a mere block away from the house and a main subway line half a mile from our place. For people coming to Los Angeles for the first time, note that the city is extremely widespread and that the transportation of choice is the car, even though traffic is usually pretty tight most of the time. Every destination may, therefore, seem “far” especially by European standards. Points of interest, beaches, and touristic sites are between 5 and 15 miles away (8 to 24 km). Please, use the map below to check our location and see how far it is to the places you want or need to go to during your stay. HOSTS We are quiet friendly and welcoming people, French and American, with a 13-year old kid who keeps us busy and a small obedient dog. With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, we strive to provide our guests with the best service and make your stay as enjoyable as possible while keeping our rates low. HOUSE RULES “Common sense” rules to guarantee the peace and quiet, comfort, and safety of all residents. • NOISE Respect the other residents by keeping the noise level down while on or around the premises (in the yards and by windows), especially at night. Use head or earphones when possible. Avoid speakerphones. Don’t slam the doors, use the doorknobs. Don’t sing or listen to the radio while showering. Avoid taking showers in the middle of the night. If you use the bathroom late at night, please be mindful and respectful of the guest(s) sleeping in the adjacent bedroom. • PRIVACY & COURTESY Respect the other residents’ privacy, as they will yours. Don’t spend hours in the bathroom when you know other guests are waiting. Avoid cooking overly smelly foods and remember to open windows when cooking. • SAFETY Always lock your bedroom windows and the house doors (front and screen doors) before leaving the property. Keep the main gate closed at all times, even when temporarily loading/unloading your vehicle or waiting for a cab to prevent our dog from escaping onto the street. Don’t let strangers in on the property. Do not open the kitchen side door when it is closed. Lock your bedroom door upon leaving: we are not responsible for the belongings and valuables you leave inside your room. • LIGHTS Switch off all lights, fan, and appliances in your room (and in the house if no one else is there) when you leave. • CLEANLINESS Keep your room clean. Don’t leave open food trays, cans, and dirty dishes in your bedroom as it attracts insects. To avoid splatter, always use the cover plate in the microwave. As you may share the bathroom with other guests, make sure you leave it clean and tidy after use. Use the shower curtain to prevent flooding. Check the sink, tub, and toilet for hair and smears/smudges before exiting. Dispose of trash timely. If you have a lot of waste, please use the trash containers located outside at the very back of the property. • KITCHEN No cooking is allowed after 9 pm. Wash your dishes or place them in the dishwasher as you go. Leave the stove clean after cooking. • SMOKING Smoking is strictly forbidden inside. Use the front yard only. Don’t throw your cigarette butts in the yard or front of the house. When outside, avoid smoking by open windows. • FOOD & BEVERAGE You are responsible for your food and drinks. Tap water in LA is drinkable and of good quality. Do not use the water fountain in the kitchen. • WASHER-DRYER Free of charge only for guests staying at least 7 nights. Other guests may wash against a fee. Ask for availability before use. Hours of operation are weekdays 10 am – 6 pm. Due to the California droughts, please do full loads only. • DOG Don’t feed our dog and make sure you always close the property gate to prevent him from accessing the street. • VISITORS Visitors are not allowed. • CHECKOUT Please let us know of your checkout time upon check-in. If you leave very early you will be asked to use of a safety box to leave the keys in so that the front doors are not left unlocked. Checkout time is 10 am. As we most likely will have a new arrival, please respect that limit. • PARKING Pay heed to the parking signs when you park on the street. Parking is forbidden on Wednesdays (odd numbers) and Thursdays (even numbers) between 9:30 am and 11:30 am for street cleaning. Traffic citations are currently $73. Avoid parking in the red zones in front of the house and by the fire hydrant across the street. Confirming your booking with us implies that you have read and accepted our rules. Non-respect of the rules will result in immediate cancellation of your reservation without prejudice. You will be asked to vacate the premises at once and will not be entitled to any refund. How to get there
Upon booking we will send you the link to our on-line welcome page where you will find the exact address, maps and directions. You can take the Metro green line from LAX airport to our place. It is only 5 stops away.The Metro station is Aviation/LAX and is located 2.7 miles (4.3 km) from the airport at 11500 Aviation Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045.There are 2 free shuttles (8 and 232) from the airport to the station that run every 30 minutes. They leave from Terminal 1 upper level shuttle stop. Travel time between airport and metro station is 5-10 minutes. Look for the LAX Shuttle bus with the head sign reading “ Metro Green Line Aviation Station”. Count at least 50-55 minutes altogether (bus + metro).Get of at Avalon station at 11667 South Avalon Blvd, Los Angeles 90067. Our house is half a mile (800m) from the station.
