Holiday Rental House
I started this in April 2014 & although I have only 4 reviews on TripAdvisor, I have 102 total reviews (from guests spending the weekend to guests spending over a month) and they are all 5 Star reviews. I tailor each guests stay to their needs & desires by providing their food choices and their music, movies & book selections as well as tips and suggestions on what might interest them while they are here. I can also prepare meals for you in any manner you would like and for any diet at additional cost, there are 3 sample menus on my website on the amenities page.

Completely redefining the travel rental experience; personal choices, privacy & concierge like service. If you just want a “place to crash or party” this IS NOT the place. If you want to be able to relax and feel at home, like or love to cook, read books (900 +), watch great movies (2,200+), listen to music (through Bose Surround Sound Speakers via Amazon second generation Dot and Amazon Unlimited Music, virtually any song) and feel like you are at home with lots of amenities and attention to detail this IS the place. It's the front half of a duplex on a residential street that was just completely remodeled, even completely re-wired, just for this purpose and most of everything is new (except some furniture). I live in the back half. It's easy to get anywhere from here: 2 freeways & several major routes, plus many beaches are close.
Far from a sterile 'cookie cutter' place, it's a unique hybrid of a B&B, hotel amenities & a cozy home that offers EVERYTHING you could want to relax, cook, read, watch movies, listen to music and feel at home. Here's the genesis of the concept; I traveled a lot in the wine biz (20-40 weeks a year for a long time), I got so tired of hotels (from okay to top notch), lobbies, parking hassles, lousy coffee & tea, hotel TV, no refrigerator, no way to prepare any food, having to eat out every night etc. Relaxing, escaping or unwinding on the road was hard to do in the sterile atmosphere of hotels. I wanted a place like 'home' where I could relax and be comfortable, have a fridge for keeping the wines & food, a place to prepare it and ideally have the potential to entertain clients, friends or reps in a home like environment. I took some ideas from the top hotels & from B&B's, but no matter where I stayed I very rarely got my 3 basic essentials to start a good day: a good night's sleep on a good mattress with good pillows, the right temperature + fresh air; a good shower; and great cup of coffee or tea without having to leave my room to get it or pay room service prices, are all of those are here plus much more.
How I addressed my 3 basics for a good start:
Queen beds with Sealy Posturepedic Memory Foam with cooling gel mattresses on both beds; high quality cotton sheets, flannel in the colder months; comforter & blankets as needed. 11 pillows to choose from. Temperature: Windows (3) open to driveway; ceiling fan; the wall heater is just out the bedroom door and an electric blanket is available as is a room fan. Nights are normally comfortable, it's 3 miles to the ocean.
Delta Lahara 2 in 1 shower head with good water pressure; Noritz tankless water heater so you will never run out of hot water; Charisma bath sheets & towels and a towel warmer (1 at a time). There is a choice of robes and slippers in the bedroom closet.
The morning wake-up:
Whole Bean Coffee: Some are organic, I have 5 choices of beans but if you want something else it will be here, I have a Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill to grind the quantity you choose and the grind however you like it. There are 7 ways to make ground coffee so you can choose your favorite, I will also get whatever sweetener and milk or cream that you want .
Tea: I have a choice of 6 whole leaf teas some organic; an immersion tea pot; electric & stove top tea kettles. I will also get your choice of tea if I don't have it.
Other: Fresh juice oranges from the Santa Monica Farmers Market with a Cuisinart Pulp Control Juicer provided. Fresh flowers, organic non GMO eggs and seasonal fruit from the farmers market will also be provided. You can choose from bread, muffins or bagels with 2 choices of butter. If you don't want eggs, you can have cereal (oatmeal is in the pantry already), protein bars or something else. I provide your choice of ice cream and cookies. I have filtered water, so no need for bottled water, and I stock the fridge with LaCroix sparkling waters in 4 flavors. In addition you get a choice of one of the following; beer, white or red wine or sodas.
For unwinding and relaxing:
TV: Direct TV with HBO, both of the bedrooms have 46' Sony HDTV's with DVR's and Blu-Ray players. The living room has a 55” Vizio 3D TV with Bose Acoustic Mass 6 speaker surround sound. I can record on any of the DVR's any shows you would like to see if you let me know in advance in either or both rooms.
Movies: You will have a choice of over 2,200 movies to choose from that I own & will provide you like a local Netflix from the list you text me. The list is on my website on the amenities page of my website. There is a 3D blu-ray player in both the living room with 5 3D movies & 3D glasses.
Books: About 800 in the house, lots of cookbooks and food & wine related, fiction, non fiction, history, sports, many award winning etc. There are 2 clip on book lights in the night stands plus a movable and flexible lamp in each bedroom. The book list is on my website on the amenities page.
Computer: There is ASUS Book Vivo (touchscreen netbook) in the living by the electrically reclining leather couch and ATT&T's highest speed available WiFi for all of your devices plus an Anker high speed charger that will charge up to 5 devices at once using USB cords.
Music: I have the second generation Amazon Dot with Alexa and I have Amazon Unlimited Music so you literally have access to tens of millions of songs. Ask Alexa for an artist, album, year, era, genre etc and you get it played through the Bose surround speakers via Bluetooth. There is also an Unplug portable Bluetooth speaker that will play in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom or front porch if you choose.
Very convenient. 15 minutes from LAX. Very clean, cozy and quiet. Amazing kitchen if you enjoy cooking. + Lance( the owner ) is always there to assist you. Great guy.
I would highly recommend LA Relais to any of my friends or family.
Excellent stay in a quiet, centralized location. The attention Lance gives his quests is top notch and the house served above and beyond our needs. I would totally recommend friends and family to enjoy their trip to LA, by staying at this location. This will...More

I put my 'title' on my business cards as 'Host, Concierge, Proprietor' as that's how I view it. I'm the host and I'm available on my cell phone for text or calls from 7AM to 10PM (when my phone 'goes to sleep' I get any calls or texts in the morning) for whatever you need. I grew up here so tips, suggestions, reservations, the best way to get somewhere and when the best time to go and come back etc are yours for the asking.
The interaction is completely up to you, I'm willing to do whatever you want or need virtually whenever you would like it. I shop the Santa Monica farmers market every Wednesday for fresh fruit, flowers, eggs, oranges for juicing etc. If you want complete privacy and to be left alone just let me know.
A quiet, safe residential neighborhood with easy parking, close to LAX, 405 (N/S) & 105 (E/W) freeways, major roads & arteries so it's easy to get anywhere. My mom & grandparents bought the duplex in 1963. Westchester Golf Course is a wedge away, with Westchester Park (public swimming pool in summer) next to it. Shopping is very close Trader Joe's, CVS, Kohl's, Ralph's market etc. are less than a mile with Westfield Culver City mall 2 miles, El Segundo & Manhattan Village Mall 3-4 miles. There are many, many movie theaters, restaurants, bars within 1-5 miles. Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Venice Santa Monica, Culver City, West LA, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach are all within 10-15 miles at the most. A car is recommended, it's LA, but several bus lines are within blocks a...
How to get there
Easy to get here, very close to LAX & all the car rentals (less than 2 miles). There is a dedicated parking spot for you, a car is recommended, but Lyft & Uber are readily available as are LA, Santa Monica & Culver City Bus lines that go a long way. There are 2 Metro rail line stations for different routes within 4 miles with another that will open in 2018 for another line. Close to the 405 & 105 freeways & many major roads so it's easy to get a lot of places, the nearest beach is 2.5 miles.
