About the neighbourhood
Glencairn is situated between the coastal town of Fish Hoek and the naval town of Simonstown. There are many restaurants in the area - in Glencairn itself, Fish Hoek, Simonstown and farther afield in Noordhoek and Scarborough. Shopping centres are abundant, with a small supermarket, laundrette and petrol station in Glencairn; just along the road to Simonstown or Sun Valley guests will find all their needs including banks, post office, etc. The area is well known for its hiking trails and there are hiking groups which organise walks in the area and even in the Cape Point Nature Reserve. This Reserve is one of the highlights of the area, together with penguin viewing at Simonstown and the Ostrich Farm near Scarborough.
Getting around
Whilst your own transport is necessary, many tour guides offer visits in the surrounding area. Tour companies also offer day trips to the wine area and to the outlying towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl. Airport transfers can be arranged.
