Built in the 1800s, Plockton Rhu Cottage was originally a cooperage providing barrels for the Plockton fishing trade. Later in that century an upper floor was added making it a typical ‘one and a half storey’ traditional Highland cottage. Now refurbished, it still retains its original character, providing a cosy and relaxing village retreat away from bustle and hubbub. The Lounge, Kitchen/Diner and the windows in both Bedrooms all face the beautiful sea loch that is Loch Carron. Whether sitting outside - or in the porch with a cup of tea or a glass of wine in inclement weather - you are assured of magnificent views across the garden and open grassland to Plockton Bay, Duncraig Castle and the Plockton Crags. Plockton Village, known as ‘The Jewel of the Highlands’, is the perfect base to stay, being ideal for walking, hill climbing, photography, boating and water-sports or just quietly watching the wildlife. Plockton Rhu Cottage is ideally situated on ‘Rhu’, a quiet and secluded part of Plockton village, by the water - but just 5 minutes from the shops, hotels, bars and restaurants – all serving excellent cuisine and with freshly caught seafood being much in evidence. This is much appreciated when you come home after a good day’s sightseeing or walking among the spectacular scenery of the Highland West Coast or the Isle of Skye - and just want to be catered for. The Skye Bridge is just 15 minutes away and is the gateway to the widest range of geology in Europe culminating in the formidable Cuillin Range of mountains. The view from Elgol is not to be missed on a trip to Skye. As owners and Plockton residents, we live in the adjacent newly built extension. Kate runs the Post Office and provides Tourist Information. You can therefore be assured that we are right on hand, ready and able to make your stay both stress-free and relaxing at Plockton Rhu Cottage, Plockton. Earliest arrival 4.30 pm - Latest departure time10.00 am Plockton Rhu Cottage is non-smoking, and we can accommodate one pet only by arrangement. More

Breathtaking views from the cottage. So peaceful. Denis and Kate are wonderful hosts who gave us some really good information and couldn't have been more helpful. We had such a wonderful time and wished we had booked for longer. It really is a gem.

Beautiful location, Plockton is lovely. The owners live immediately next door, which may not suit everyone. They supplied super flowers and generous breakfast supplies. However the kitchen ware both for eating and cooking was definitely not up to scratch in our view. If you want...More

The cottage was warm and well equipped. Denis and Kate the owners liver in the adjoining extension and are perfect hosts - on hand and attentive if needed but not intrusive. Great fund of local knowledge and advice.
