About the neighbourhood
Glenridding is an ideal location in the hear of the Lake District, a recently anointed World Heritage Site. Not only is the village located on the shores of Ullswater, it also lies at the foot of Helvellyn, the third highest summit in England. One can stroll down to the shores of Ullswater, perfect for those with an interest in water sports, or choose to hike in the Lakeland fells from the doorstep. In addition to Helvellyn, the fells of High Street, Place Fell, Fairfield, St Sunday Crag and Dollywaggon Pike are all nearby and easily accessible. An array of village shops is just around the corner, as are a range of excellent pubs and restaurants (the nearest pub being less than 20 m from the cottage).
Getting around
A car is useful but not completely necessary. Once settled into the cottage, one can explore the local area and fells without relying on a car (although one certainly opens up your options for adventure).
