There is a spacious living room / dining room / kitchen and bar area with granite counter tops, two balconies, and amazing ocean views. Sit out on the balcony to hear the waves breaking, and listen to the symphony of sounds of howler monkeys, roosters, and the incredibly beautiful birds. The Flamingo/Potrero area is one of the most gorgeous beach communities in Costa Rica, with many different and beautiful beaches to choose from to relax and soak up the tropical sun. It is also well known for world-class sport fishing, diving, snorkeling, surfing, zipline/canopy tours, sailboat sunset tours, horseback riding, ATV tours, volcanoes, waterfalls, eco-tours, kayaking, and other activities, including golf and tennis nearby, biking, and bird watching. Stay here and relax for your entire vacation, or use this as a home base and take day trips to nearby attractions such as Arenal volcano, Rincon de la Vieja, or Santa Rosa national park. Beaches: Flamingo Beach, well known for its white sand, shade trees, and low surf, is one of the most famous beaches of the area and a popular beach among locals and tourists alike. Conchal Beach is just a short drive away and also known as 'shell' beach. This is a long soft white sand beach and most popular with tourists. Potrero Beach is where all the fishing and sailing boats are anchored and is a protected bay area — perfect for children to play. Playa Penca is usually not crowded and off the main road just like Playa Prieta. Prieta and Penca are a short 5-minute walk across the road from the townhomes. Slightly north is the famous Sugar Beach hotel and restaurant located right on the beach. You can have lunch there and use their pool as well as their wonderful beach area. And a few minutes north of that is Las Catalinas, a new development with a full activities center that has paddle boarding, surfing and instruction, bike rentals and tours, and great hiking/running trails. Then relax afterwards and have lunch at Lola’s Norte while taking in the ocean views of the incredible Playa Danta. Restaurants: The area has many restaurants with different types of cuisine ranging from typical local food to international cuisine. All restaurants have fresh seafood and fish. You can walk to some local restaurants — Sol y Mar and Las Brisas beach bar, or drive 10 minutes to Flamingo and enjoy Marie's restaurant or Mar y Sol sunset lounge/tapas bar, an award-winning gourmet restaurant, or drive to Playa Danta to the new Lola’s Norte for lunch. Brasilito, which is just 15 minutes away, has the Happy Snapper with live entertainment on weekends and also the Golden Shrimp on the beach. Other restaurants in the area include Palaccio del Sol, Amberes, Mariner Inn, Marco Polo, Maxwell's, El Castillo, Outback Jacks, Il Forno, and Bahia del Sol.
