Maison de Rey is a restored French farmhouse, sleeping 10 people in comfort, parts of which date back 300 years. It is set in breath-taking countryside, close to the medieval town of Figeac in the rural Lot region of the Midi-Pyrenees. Situated on a hillside and has stunning views to the west. Local activities include canoeing, golf, walking, cycling, horse riding, sightseeing, water parks, caves, chateaux, farmers markets and a foodies paradise! It has many amenities including TV, videos, DVDs, games, books and a barbecue. Internet access is available only via Personal HotSpot from your mobile phone and the 4G signal is excellent. The pool is fenced to ensure complete safety for your children and there are many sun loungers provided. The pool is cleaned and tested regularly to ensure perfect water quality. In addition there is a cool Abri du Jardin, (a conservatory with fly screen instead of glass) in which you can retreat from the heat of the midday sun. Reyrevignes is within the 'Parc Naturel Regional des Causses du Quercy' an area designated for its outstanding natural beauty. The village has a bakery producing excellent fresh bread daily and Collette, the owner, will proudly confirm she was born many years ago in the house now called Maison de Rey! Her brother Christian owns and runs the farm next door to Maison de Rey. There is a total of 5 bedrooms with 2 double bedrooms ensuite on the ground floor and 3 further twin bedrooms on the first floor with a shared shower room and separate toilet. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, fitted wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with bath/shower and separate toilet. Bedroom 2 has a double bed with an en suite shower room / toilet Three double bedrooms upstairs (twin beds) one of which is big enough to accommodate three beds if required. The kitchen is fully equipped with a wealth of pots, pans, crockery and utensils, gas hob and electric cooker, coffee machine, microwave, kettle etc. Two fridges, dishwasher, dryer, washing machine. Ground Floor – is open plan with the main front door opening onto the sitting room with TV, DVD, music centre and a wood-burning stove in an inglenook fireplace. Dining room with table to seat 10, music system and bookshelves. A large selection of books are available and some games are provided. Linen and towels are provided. Maison de Rey is cleaned on Saturday as you arrive - access from 16.00. This property has been designed with children in mind to ensure complete peace of mind for parents. To help ensure a “fast-start” to a great holiday we have drawn on our years of experiences and knowledge of holidaying in the region to create a comprehensive Holiday Information Pack. This includes loads of recommendations on things to do and places to see. For example, using our guide to local restaurants you can be confident you get great value for money in the most welcoming restaurants in the area. Similarly, we also guide you to the best of the sports facilities (tennis, golf, boules), fun parks, tourist attractions, water sports (waterski, canoeing), places of historic interest, wine tasting, cycling, local walks and even hiking, for the truly adventurous amongst our guests. A valuable 'how to' on the area so you can be “on-holiday” from the moment you arrive. This property is not suitable for wheelchair users. The property is situated near to a working farm. The house has unrestricted views across the open countryside. The kitchen has patio doors that lead into the conservatory or 'Abri du Jardin' which is fly-screened from annoying insects and enabling outdoor living in perfect comfort. The 'Abri' is furnished with a large dining table, this opens onto the barbeque area right by the fenced swimming pool, the pool area is washed by the evening sun - imagine yourself sitting there enjoying the views and the sunset with a glass of the local wine in hand! There are golf courses in the local area see the information pack we provide for more details. The River Lot nearby is a great attraction for many people, and water-based activities are very popular in summer – canoeing, boat trips and fishing. This sparsely populated area also has some fantastic walks and mountain bike trails where it is possible to travel for miles without seeing another person. The Lot Valley is a paradise for walkers, road or mountain bike enthusiasts. A section of Grand Randonee walking shows 65 walks close by, Reyrevignes has public tennis courts available for a very small charge. Many lakes and rivers in the local area make for great swimming or water sports. Maison de Rey is conveniently reached from J56 of A20 motorway that runs down the heart of France from south of Paris to Toulouse.More

About the neighbourhood
The house is located within the Parc Regionale Causses du Quercy which is protected as an area of outstanding beauty by the French authorities. There are over 250 sites of historical interest and many of the villages have been designated as 'One of the most beautiful villages in France'. The Lot and Cele rivers are nearby and this region benefits from being relatively undeveloped with respect to tourism when compared to holidaying at the coast or in the Dordogne valley which is only 40kms away. Of particular interest is the lack of atmospheric industrial pollution in this area giving rise to a night sky teeming with stars and a sight our visitors will never forget.
Getting around
Having a car or at least access to a car is essential for getting around. However, there is a regular local bus service into Figeac and buses from there to all the major places of interest. Assier railway station is only 6km away from the house and from there a train travels through some stunning countryside to the large town of Brive for sightseeing and shopping.
