Holiday Rental House
The Frances Louis House was designed and built in the early 1970s by a Nova Scotia architect, Keith Graham. The modernist design style of clean lines and light infused spaces is softened by the use of natural materials. Constructed of Red Western cedar with hardwood floors and local fieldstone, the house harmonizes with the natural surroundings. The main living area is comprised of a large fully equipped kitchen, dining room and a sunken living room that looks out on to the deck. A large stone fireplace anchors the living room while floor to ceiling windows flood the space with light. A corridor leads from the main living area to the bedrooms. A large stone fireplace anchors the living room while floor to ceiling windows flood the space with light. A corridor leads from the main living area to the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a small western facing balcony that overlooks the property, a queen size bed and an ensuite washroom with a dressing area and separate cedar lined shower room that feels like a steam bath. A second bedroom has two twin beds and a view of the garden. Carefully placed skylights bring additional light into the bedrooms. There is an additional washroom with separate vanity and toilet and a 'steam bath' shower. Flanking this corridor are two creatively designed rooms: a well-stocked library/media room with a colour television and DVD player and an additional bedroom with a single bed. Two large sliding pocket doors create the fourth wall for these spaces and can be fully opened to expand the room or closed for privacy. Approximately 200 meters from the waterfront, the property is well treed with pines. The beach is almost always deserted. Shallow waters and interesting inlets make for perfect sea kayaking. So whether you are seeking an active holiday or a peaceful break from the everyday, the Frances Louis House is the ideal seaside vacation home. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I have been to the cottage and I am quite familiar with the property. Additional amenities include: beach chairs, 4 piece bath, iron & ironing board, selection of movies, lawn & gardens, lobster pot, fridge, stove, books & board games, coffee maker, kettle, close to beaches, close to grocery store, washer and dryer.More

The cottage was great, the setting was beautiful. I am very familiar with the area having grown up on the south shore. Having the private beach was amazing. The only draw backs were that the sea was full of jelly fish (Lions Head) and the...More

Lovely house in a lovely spot, set back from the white sand beach in some piney, mossy woods. No one on the beach for the month we were there, which was great! The pets loved it as much as we did. We'll definitely go back.

Architecturally interesting cottage in a secluded area of the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Very comfortable and well-equipped, with a very nice sandy beach. We have rented here on 5 occasions, and will do so again!
