'An Cala Beag' (The Little Haven) is a newly refurbished self catering apartment in a stunning location on the popular Waternish peninsula with uninterrupted views across the sea to the islands of the Outer Hebrides. The picture window in the lounge facing south west, is the perfect place for relaxing and watching eagles overhead or spectacular sunsets in the evenings. This cosy apartment is an ideal, all year round, base for exploring the north of Skye, an area also blessed with many excellent restaurants. The apartment is tucked away down a track, off the main road, attached to the main house but with its own separate entrance. A porch provides space for muddy boots and coats. Parking is to the side of the property. The living area is open plan incorporating the seating area, well equipped kitchen with plenty of cupboard space and a dining table at which to enjoy your romantic meals in comfort. The lounge area has two leather chairs, a flame effect electric fire to keep you cosy, flat screen TV with FreeSat and DVD player and free Wifi. The separate bedroom has been designed with comfort in mind. It has a double size pocket sprung memory foam bed, 300 thread count cotton bedding on the feather and down king-size quilt and pillows complete the feeling of luxury. The en-suite shower room incorporates a quadrant shower cubicle, w.c. and wash basin. There is a heated mirror with a shaving point. Towels are provided. For 3 Nights Stay - changeover days Wednesday & Saturday - Please note these days can vary depending on time of year - contact owner for further information. About the neighbourhood
Waternish Peninsula has been designated a Dark Sky area and is perfect for seeing the Northern Lights, space station, shooting stars and the milky way. During the summer months Golden & White Tailed Eagles can be heard and seen soaring in the skies above. There are porpoises and dolphins frequently spotted in the bay. Waternish is perfect for bird watchers, photographers, artists, cyclists, walkers and nature lovers alike. It hosts art galleries, Skye Skyns Tannery, wild life cruises, the oldest Inn on Skye (Stein) and Michael Smith's fabulous Loch Bay Restaurant. Nearest shops are in Dunvegan approx. 15Km or Portree 30Km. Oldest Pub on Skye, Stein Inn is 4Km ; Loch Bay Restaurant - 4Km
How to get there
To get on to the Isle of Skye you can either drive over the bridge from the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh or catch the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. Waternish Peninsula is situated in the north west corner of Skye. It will take approximately 1.25 hours to reach Waternish from either the Skye Bridge or the Ferry Terminal at Armadale. From the A850, Portree to Dunvegan road take the B886, signposted Waternish. Continue on this road for 3 miles until you come to a 'T' Junction. Turn Right and continue for another 3 miles until you reach Hallin. Exact details will be sent out once a booking has been made.
