Just came back from 4 days at Con's Cottage (August 2023) and I have mixed feelings about the place. The location is very nice: retired, secluded (maybe too secluded for some), surounded by a small patch of pine forest... very nice. The cottage is also nice on the outside, picturesque would be the word, but not on the inside.
When we entered there was a strong, acrid smell of smoke, a bit unpleaseant but you get used to it. The interior was not very clean in general. The bed sheets were not particularly clean either. But the worse part was the bathroom: it's OLD, dingy and tatty. Clearly it hasn't been renovated, or even fixed up, in a long time. Not what you expect from 100 €/night. The kitchen wasn't too good either, but not like the bathroom (there was no sugar, by the way, bring your own). The mattresses were also quite old, coil spring type, and not confortable at all.
Inside the house there is no cell signal what-so-ever, although if you go out you may get one bar. There is wifi but it doesn't work. When we arrived, we couldn't connect, so we called the owner, who sent his son to fix it, but his plan was to switch the router off and on, which we had already done. The next day the owner said he had had it fixed, but still didn't work. We could connect to the router (which, surprisingly, is in the loft of one of the bedrooms), but there was no connection to the internet. Also, as a consequence, most TV channels were either unavailable ("no signal") or unwatchable (they disconnected every few seconds). None of the tv-apps worked, of course (Netflix, Prime, Disney,...). They all got"internet connection unstable" error. So, if you like/need connection, go somewhere else. It seems that all that could be easily fixed by installing a satellite dish, placing the router in the living room and connecting it to the TV by a cable. There was a dvd-player, but it was incompatible with the TV!
In summary, the location is very nice, but the interior is not. It sorely needs some investment and fixing up.
