The beaches nearby are very suitable for surfing and other water sports / nautical activities such as surfing, bodyboard, Long Board, Windsurfing, kite surfing, paddle boarding, scuba diving ,fishing, among other modalities.
However, the beaches have to be welcoming and very pleasant in summer season for swimmers.

Parking is free in all the beaches, and almost in all the surrounding spots.
The nearest beaches are:
• Areia Branca [+/-7 km] – Popular Beach with a wide sandy and some restaurants / bars;
In Areia Branca Beach there is a brand new 3 km cycle (bike-trail/sidewalk) path along the beach, perfect for a workout or a walk.
• Praia do Caniçal [+/-7 km] – Almost desert beach. If You stay near the cliffs the area is not windy. Ideal for the children. When there’s a low tide, it forms natural little pools. The beach has no surveillance or bar / restaurant.
• Lourinhã / Atalaia [+/-10 km]
• Paimogo [+/-10 km] - Ideal for fishing and diving. Small piscatory beach with a conection with Caniçal Beach by feet. This beach is near Fort of Paimogo – a Fort that is now in ruins and stands in a dominant position on the beach Paimogo and boasts a fantastic view over the sea . The pedestrian have access to Paimogo Beach trough Caniçal or by the Fort.
• Porto das Barcas [+/-10 km] - Beach well known because it was found in its cliffs a fossil of a dinosaur (giant crocodile ), with 150 million years (Upper Jurassic period). The fossil can be seen in the Dinosaur Museum in Lourinhã.
• Porto Dinheiro [+/-15 km] - Beautiful beach with natural Rock pools. Great restaurants around with local snacks and seafood. This extremely popular beach was the place where was found the fossil of the longest dinosaur found so far in Portugal – whit about 130 million years, nine meters long and about 4.5 tons (Cretaceous Period) . The fossil can be seen in the Dinosaur Museum, in Lourinhã

Beaches of Peniche area [Molhe Leste and Supertubos – this last one was considered one of the best beaches for surfing, with one of the best waves in the world - [+/-15 km] .
• Baleal Island [+/-15 km] - Baleal, a beach in the Peniche region, used to be an island but it is now connected to land by a thin strip of sand. Its name comes from the Portuguese word for whale (baleia) for, in ancient times, whales were hunted nearby. Baleal has many charming houses with beautiful ocean views. But its hallmark is a dramatic rock formation sculpted by the sea. It has a number of beaches, very safe for children and quite exceptional for the practice of nautical sports. The Boating Beach (Praia dos Barcos) receives the local fishermen each morning and we you can buy and take home freshly caught fish.
• Supertubos and Molhe Leste - Peniche [ +/- 15 km] - The Peniche area beaches are extraordinarily well known in world Surfing circuit. Here occurs the World Cup “Rip Curl Pro Portugal - World Surf League”. The Beaches' Molhe Leste' and ' Supertubos ' worth a special visit. Supertubos Beach was considered one of the best beaches for surfing, with one of the best waves in the world.
Between Ferrel and Peniche there is a 6 km cycle path along the beach, perfect for a workout or a walk.
• Santa Cruz and Ericeira [+/-20 km]
• Playa Del Rey (Óbidos) [+/- 30 km] - Playa Del Rey is not only a spectacular beach. It has also the most remarkable golf course in Europe. It is located in a distinctive zone, set among dunes and pine forests and allows for stunning sights over the Atlantic.
• Óbidos Lagoon (Óbidos / Foz do Arelho) [+/- 30 km] - Located between Foz do Arelho and Bom Sucesso and stretching five kilometres inland, Óbidos lagoon provides a huge expanse of water for sports of all description. The lagoon is also very picturesque with forested hills surrounding its shores and numerous bays and inlets to explore. Every kind of watersport is available here, from dinghy sailing to kite surfing, canoeing to paddleboarding, and water-skiing to wakeboarding.
NIGHTLIFE
The nightlife takes place mostly in Peniche and Baleal [+/-12-15 km], Areia Branca [+/-7 km], with restaurants, bars and discos, there is also the possibility of Santa Cruz [about 20km].
In Lourinhã there’s a nice disco near the House, called Rio Club (in front of the Dinosaurs roundabout)
In Peniche there’s a very good night Club called Bruno’s Bar

• Berlengas Islands
It is advisable a Day trip to Berlenga Islands Archipelago (One of the 7 Natural Wonders and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve) in Peniche - three groups of islets all of different geological nature of the Portuguese coast. To go there You’ll need to go in a boat and the pier is in Peniche.

• Peniche - Surfing and Fishing town (15 km)
Peniche is becoming popular as a surfer’s paradise. Is a town of rich marine resources. However, that is not all that Peniche has to offer: more to seafood restaurants teeming in the town, this eight-kilometer-wide island has fantastic sandy beaches with great surfing conditions for surfers and thrill-seekers. Moreover, it has equally breathtaking structures like museums that still hold the town’s historic jewels and local handicrafts. A famous tourist destination in the south side of town is the Fortaleza, which was once used as a prison in the time of Salazar’s regime. Nowadays, the structure serves as a museum containing various crafts made by locals, as well as the archaeological findings of Peniche Portugal region.
• Buddha Eden Garden (+/- 12 km)
We advise a visit to the Bacalhôa Buddha Eden Garden [Quinta dos Loridos - Bombarral] - A 35 hectares Garden, designed and conceived by José Berardo. With about 35 hectares, the garden was created in protest against destruction of the Bamyan Buddhas Giants on one of the biggest cultural barbarous acts, erasing Memory masterpieces of the late period of Gandhara Art.
Here You can also meet wine tourism under the theme 'Art, Wine, Passion' that aims to surprise the expectations of the most demanding curious. The vineyards to the wine, all wine process is involved in various scenarios that include tradition and modernity, with several art exhibitions, from painting to sculpture, never forgetting magnificent natural works. The vineyards, palaces, caves, gardens, works of art.
• Dinosaur Museum (5 km)
This museum has the largest Iberian collection of dinosaur fossils from the Late Jurassic and one of the most important in the world in what was once considered 'the best small World Museum for the funding it receives' (Neil Clark, magazine Expresso 1997).
Among these fossils 150 million years old are various remains of carnivorous dinosaurs , giant herbivores or several fossils of carnivorous dinosaurs eggs containing embryos of the oldest dinosaurs from around the world and the second largest nest with more than 100 eggs.
The Museum exhibits a series of dinosaurs that are the only known examples of these species , many of them found right here - in Lourinhã
• Nazaré Big Wave Awards & Tour (30 km)
Nazaré became a popular tourist attraction, advertising itself internationally as a picturesque seaside village, as one of the most popular seaside resorts in the Portuguese Silver Coast. It has long sandy beaches and the town is used to be known for its traditional costumes worn by the fishermen and their wives who wore a traditional headscarf and embroidered aprons over seven flannel skirts in different colours.
The surfer Garrett McNamara, who resides in Hawai'i, surfed a record-breaking giant wave: 78 feet (23.8 m) from trough to crest, at Nazaré.
• Foz do Arelho and Lagoon of Óbidos (30 km)
The Lagoon of Óbidos extends through two branches: Braço do Bom Sucesso towards West, and the Braço da Barrosa facing East. It also borders the municipality of Caldas da Rainha (North) with Foz do Arelho and Nadadouro, and the municipality of Óbidos (South). It has a length of 6 kilometres. According to history books, the Lagoon was actually much larger having reached, in earlier times, the Castle walls of Óbidos.
• Óbidos - Medieval village (30 km)
In this village there are some huge events, namely Vila Natal (On Christmas Season – December until January), Medieval Market of Obidos (June until August) and Chocolate International Festival (April until May)
• Caldas da Rainha - Artistic city (40 km)
An excellent place to experience the real Portugal without hordes of tourists. Caldas offers visitors countless experiences to savour: a lovely park, a bustling farmers' market, museums, shops, appetizing dining, and nearby beaches. Caldas is an artistic city, and artworks aren't confined to its several museums. The city is home to a college of art and design, as well as a vocational school devoted to ceramics. Caldas's centre has many excellent examples of Art Nouveau architecture, with beautiful titled exteriors. You can even take art home with you, in the form of world-renowned ceramic creations from the Bordallo Pinheiro factory.
• Forte do Paimogo (6 km)
The Fort of Paimogo - now in ruins - stands in a dominant position on the beach Paimogo and boasts a fantastic view over the sea . Allows pedestrian access Paimogo Beach.

This home made backery sells various traditional and historical cakes and sweets mostly origined on convents, such as “Amendoados”, as “Areias Brancas”, “Delícias do Conventto”, “Paimogos”, “Pasteis de Aguardente da Lourinhã” and the famous “Pão de Ló de Miragaia”.
WHERE TO BUY GROCERIES, FISH, MEAT, FRUIT, VEGETABLES:
In the surrounding area of the residence [on foot] there are some essential services such as Cafeterias, Mini Market and ATM machine. However, to access services such as health center, pharmacy, gas station, Hypermarkets, among others.
• Local Seller - Every morning you have 2 Vans that honk near the house. It's a seller of bread and also fish.
• Mini Market - There is a small market near the house. It’s inside a coffeshop. That for daily small shopping (groceries). In front of the parish council (Junta de Freguesia da São Bartolomeu dos Galegos)
• Supermarkets - There are three supermarkets called Pingo Doce, Inter Marche and Lidl. The best one is Pingo Doce.
Those 3 supermarkets are in the center of Lourinha, on a big roundabout.
• Local Market - If you prefer you can also buy fruit, vegetables, fish and meat in the local market. The products are better, produced locally and mostly biological.
