Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Amazing place with Beautiful Views!
When I saw Casa Castillo I was in awe, it’s in a great location, close to restaurants and cafes and yet nestled privately in the jungle! The entire house (castle) is beautifully decorated with art and woodwork curated from local artists! It has all the amenities you need and the best is sitting by the pool and watching the monkeys play! We also saw a sloth and anteater in the tree! The perfect place to relax, close to many great beaches and lots of adventure to experience, highly recommend!

You'll never want to leave Casa Castillo
The house is incredible - we were 13 people - 3 families with 3 tweens and 3 teens - there was enough room for all to feel like they had their own space and there was plenty when we all came together. Everything we could possibly need was there. The bedrooms were all well-appointed (blow-dryers, toiletries, pool towels). The indoor pool was refreshing on a hot day and the outdoor pool was delightful. We had Glenda come to prepare breakfast and dinner - and each meal was better than the last. There is a grocery store just up the road for anything you might need - and if you take a tour the drivers are always willing to stop at a bigger store on the way home. Karen the housekeeper keeps the place immaculate and she does laundry daily - we came home with suitcases full of clean clothes! Alex was amazing, his assitance with everything from our tours to restaturant suggestions to getting us around the area. We highly recommend trying ziplining, white water rafting, a catamaran trip and a trip to Biesanz Beach a true hidden gem! We took a self guided tour through Manuel Antonio park - and we saw some wildlife - but honeslty we saw much more at Casa Castillo and up close - we saw Sloths in the trees near the top patio, Toucans in the trees above us while we lounged by pool, 3 types of monkeys greeted us daily.
The only challenge was the steep driveway and the stairs throughout the house - the moms used it to our advantage and ran up and down it as our daily work-out.

Casa Castillo is paradise!
if you're searching for the perfect Mnauel Antonio villa, look no further. We just spent the most delightful week at Casa Castillo. It is the last house on a quiet road with a secluded feel. The indoor pool with waterfall is cooling and the sound of water falling is peaceful. That's right on the main floor. Every bedroom is spectacular! We were a party of thirteen and it felt as if the house could have accommodated twice as many guests.
The location: 10 minutes from the best restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and beaches.
Alexander takes care of all your needs. He responded quickly to requests and arranged all of our excursions , car rentals and private transportation to/from the airport. This property is an incredible value.

Gorgeous Home- beautiful view- but lots of stairs- Monkeys, too
This home is so beautiful. Stonework is gorgeous. The view from the balcony is incredible. We could be in the master bed and wake up to the full view of the ocean. ( the master is a bit weird- you take stairs from the inside family room to the balcony and then enter by a catwalk over the family room to the master- but it is sooo gorgeous I wouldnt have wanted it another way)There are many stairs in this house but most of the houses on that ridge are like that. This is to give a great view of the ocean. The ocean is not within walking distance- 10 min drive. Bedrooms all have bathrooms in them and air conditioning. Beds very comfortable- we slept great. Kitchen was good had all utensils needed- we cooked most of the time- unusual for me but we loved the house and wanted to chill there each day after our tours. I wish they had basic spices- only salt was there. We made smoothies each evening in the blender. We went to the grocery in Quepos 10 min away. Half the cost of the grocery around the corner. On the way from San Jose we had our driver stop at the fruit stands to get fruit- the best!!!.
Maid service was everyday- which was great. She did our dishes, made the beds, did the laundery and cleaned up. Dont forget to tip her- she works hard and was so grateful when we tipped her at the end of our stay. There is a binder of info they give you which was very helpful- wish we would have read it sooner than half way through our stay. Lots of good info.
There is a small pool with waterfall in the family room- kind of weird but very cool temp and so refreshing to our sunburns. One warning- it is close to five feet deep. I think it would not be a good choice for anyone with small children. Infinity pool outside was relaxing at the end of the day- nice to have all to ourselves. Bananas, mangoes and papayas all growing right next to the house. Monkeys come out at about 4:30 and leave by 6:00. We saw sloth, iguanas, howler monkeys but mostly white faced monkeys right at the property. We saw more at the house than in the park.
The one warning I would have about this house is that in the green season I would not recommend it. The driveway is so steep that none of our tour buses could get down it- you have to have a 4x4 and even then it is not easy. We walked to the top of the drive each day for our tours and it was a rough climb. I wouldnt want to walk it in the rain and I am in good shape. I would recommend renting a 4x4 then you would be able to get to where you want to go easier. We ended up taking the bus everywhere for .50 each ride. Bus stop a good walk away- but we liked the exercise.
Overall a great house that we rented for the cost of two average hotel rooms each day. It was sooo worth it! I would not recommend this for elderly or small children as the stairs are stone and you have to take them to get to all bedrooms and family room/kitchen.

It's centrally located with over a dozen excellent restaurants, banks, supermarkets and other shops, all well within walking distance. The white sandy ocean beach is just a 3 minute ride or a mostly downhill, 20 minute walk. The endless list of local activities includes sport fishing, kayaking, scuba, snorkeling, white water rafting, surfing, etc
Getting around
Buses and taxis are readily available in the Manuel Antonio area, however, the Spanish/English language barrier is not for everyone. Most of our guests choose to rent a vehicle. How to get there
QUEPOS TO OUR OFFICE
Once in Quepos, you drive along the seawall for a few blocks and turn left at the small sign saying Manuel Antonio 7kms. Follow this road as it winds up out of Quepos to Manuel Antonio, to the small center which lies at the top of the hill. Once in Manuel Antonio continue along on the paved road for less than a mile until you pass a resort TULEMAR on your right. Just past this you will come to a 2 storey building on your left with a BCR (big red and white sign) Banco de Costa Rica, another 120 yards on the left you will see the Latitude 9 Realestate Office . This is our office building and our sign is out in the parking lot, Vacation Villas. Our office is behind the building down the ramp .
