A FEW IMPORTANT ITEMS BEFORE YOU CONTINUE TO READ: BECAUSE THIS SITE DOES NOT GIVE THE OPTION FOR HOSTS TO SET A MAXIMUM RENTAL TIME, I MUST STATE HERE THAT THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF NIGHTS STAY IN MY HOME IS 8 NIGHTS. I WANT TO KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT MY GUESTS BEFORE I APPROVE THEM. I AM A SINGLE FEMALE, RENTING OUT THE BEDROOM IN MY SMALL, SHARED APARTMENT/HOME. A PROFILE WITH A CLEAR PHOTO AND INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF, WHY YOU ARE TRAVELLING TO NYC ETC, WILL BE HELPFUL. AS A GUEST, YOU GET TO KNOW QUITE A BIT ABOUT ME IN ADVANCE. YOU SEE MY PHOTO, MY PROFILE, PRIOR REVIEWS, PHOTOS OF MY HOME, AND UNDERSTAND HOW I SPEAK AND DESCRIBE MY HOME. I THINK IT ONLY REASONABLE THAT I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT YOU, BEFORE I SHARE MY SMALL PRIVATE HOME WITH YOU. I WANT US BOTH TO FEEL COMFORTABLE ...A FEW IMPORTANT ITEMS BEFORE YOU CONTINUE TO READ: BECAUSE THIS SITE DOES NOT GIVE THE OPTION FOR HOSTS TO SET A MAXIMUM RENTAL TIME, I MUST STATE HERE THAT THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF NIGHTS STAY IN MY HOME IS 8 NIGHTS. I THINK IT ONLY REASONABLE THAT I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT YOU, BEFORE I SHARE MY SMALL PRIVATE HOME WITH YOU. I WANT US BOTH TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH EACH OTHER, AND HAVE AN ENJOYABLE TIME. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING. MY APARTMENT IS LOCATED ON THE THIRD FLOOR. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. Note: Host also speaks Spanish. Anfintriona es hispano-parlante I am an experienced host, renting out a room in my apartment a number of times in the past, as well as hosting small Supper Club dinners in my home. I live in a typical NYC apartment, so while it is small, there is enough space for myself and 1-2 guests. I keep my apartment immaculately clean and it is decorated in a cheerful, artistic and 'homey' style. There is only one bathroom which we would share. I only have one set of guests staying in my apartment at any point in time. Self-serve breakfast is included with your stay. I have two cats which are not allowed in your bedroom. My apartment has a very small balcony with two chairs and a variety of plants. Smoking is allowed on the balcony only. I must place a limit or restriction on the amount and size of your luggage due to the size of this apartment. (Some guests have brought multiple suitcases with them in order to do 'shopping' in NYC, resulting in their bedroom feeling very cramped.) Please see more specific details down below. ++++++++++++++++++++++++ This listing is for a Queen-size bed in a private bedroom, and a shared bathroom (I would sleep on a futon couch in the living area). Note that I only have one set of guests staying with me at any time, so there would be no one else in the apartment...just you and me! Here's what you can expect if you stay with me: - impeccably clean apartment - 100% cotton sheets of superior quality (high thread count) - big fluffy bath towels - access to my small balcony with chairs and plants - many ethnic restaurants nearby (Greek, Japanese, Italian, steakhouse, organic/vegetarian, etc.), some very nice coffeeshops, and bagel shops - self-serve breakfast consisting of organic breads and cereals (including gluten-free), Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, organic milk, soy milk, rice milk, whole coffee beans to grind daily, a variety of teas, etc. - I have a high-speed blender and can make you fresh juice and/or vegetable drinks, smoothies, or freshly ground almond milk each day.. You can also make your own drinks if you like by using this blender. I will always have on-hand various fruits/vegetables for making healthy drinks. - access to a hair dryer - an NYC guidebook, maps of Manhattan and Brooklyn and other information on tourist attractions +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I generally go to bed around 1130p and wake up around 800a so it's best if guests keep these same general hours. If you want to come home late at night that is not a problem for me. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ One important rule: I cannot allow for guests who have alot of luggage or otherwise your sleeping area will feel too crowded and you will not be able to move around. You can each have one small or medium-sized suitcase and a small tote bag. Multiple suitcases per person are not allowed, nor are jumbo suitcases. I prefer guests who have done enough travelling in their life, that they have come to understand the benefits of 'travelling light'. (Note that I have two luggage racks onto which you can place your items.) Here are the general dimensions of luggage: Small: 22' x 14' x 19' (or 55.9 x 35.6 x 22.9cm) is the general size of luggage that you can carry with you onto the plane. This is the ideal size for my apartment! You could each have one suitcase of this size plus a small tote bag. Medium: 25' x 17' x 11' (or 63.5 x 43.2 x 27.9cm) is the next larger size of suitcase. Each person could have one suitcase of this size, but no other suitcases even if they are smaller. Jumbo: 28' x 19' x 12' (or 71.1 x 48.3 x 30.5cm) is the next larger size of suitcase. This size suitcase is not allowed. Thank you! More

Interaction with guests
I live in the same apartment where I rent out the bedroom for my guests. My guests sleep in a private bedroom behind a closed door. I sleep in the living area that is next to the bedroom. I sleep on a foldout couch behind a folding screen panel. When I have guests, I personally take care of them, welcoming them into my home when they first arrive. I am here to answer any questions you may have about what to do or see in NYC, how to use the subway system (I typically bring my guests to the subway on Day One, to help them purchase metro card and to explain to them how the NYC subway works.)

I stayed to Lynn's place 5 times or so, and since I tried once, I always choosed her lovely place for my stays in NY. Not only this is a perfect clean and cozy environment, but the greatest (and the most important) detail about this...More

About the neighbourhood
I live in the Queens neighborhood of Astoria, which is known for its Greek population, in addition to Italian, Mexican, Egyptian, Lebanese, Bangladeshi, Japanese, Brazilian and now young hipsters ;-) Staying in Queens provides you with a more authentic experience of living in a neighborhood with regular New Yorkers, and no tourists in sight. Plus you are still close enough to Manhattan and all the popular tourist sites! As indicated in Wikipedia, Queens is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world. There are many wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars nearby.
Getting around
My apartment is a 12-minute walk to the metro/subway system (Q and N subway lines at the Astoria/Ditmars train station). Once you are on the subway train, it is about a 15-minute ride to Central Park, and a 25-minute ride to Times Square. There is also a bus at the corner of my street (Q101 bus) which can take you to another subway station (for the M and R trains) in about 10 minutes. Once you are at the M and R train Steinway station, you can easily get to Long Island City (5 minute train ride) or Manhattan (12 minute train ride to Rockefeller Center).
