Holiday Rental House
Nestled in between the hustle and bustle of the Carmel Market, the beach, and the crowded Allenby Street, you will find our charming little retro house with an inviting yellow door in Kerem HaTeimanim, Hebrew for 'Vineyard of the Yemenites.' When you enter Kerem HaTeimanim you will notice a huge difference in atmosphere and overall pace of life. The streets are calm and pastoral, the buildings remain in their original form, and the whole area has managed to escape the wave of modern development that has swept the rest of the city. This little house was designed by an artist from Bezazel Academy, who custom-built almost all of the furniture inside the flat while keeping the authentic vibe of the neighborhood. Kerem HaTeimanim is one of Tel Aviv’s last authentic treasures, a hidden corner of the city that remains rich with nostalgia and authenticity. This charming old neighborhood was built in the late 19th century by Yemenite immigrants (it was settled in 1904 by Yemenites who immigrated to Israel in 1881), and it was the first area of Tel Aviv to be built outside what was then the thriving port city of Jaffa. This Yemenite Quarter, as it was later called, was the beginning of the new city of Tel Aviv. What makes this place unique is total absence of any borders between home and public space. Tables of the cafes can occupy half of the walking area, many people keep doors of their houses open during the day, and a private party can easily transform into a street party with hundreds of participants. And while the Kerem is famous for many things, it is most famous for a great place to enjoy authentic Israeli food. Don’t miss out on the wide selection of Yemenite food at the local, family run eateries. Try a bowl of traditional Yemenite Soup (marak teimani) or the deliciously healthy Hilbeh (a special fenu greek seeds dip) for an authentic eating experience. Be sure to check out all the little alleys of the Kerem to find hidden gems only true 'Tel-Avivians' know :) GETTING AROUND: Everything is walking distance from the apartment--the beach is only 200m away, Shuk HaCarmel is 100m away, Nahalat Binyamin 400m away, and Yafo is only a 15 minute walk. If it cannot be walked, feel free to rent a bike or electric scooter for a fun way to get around and see the city! Just be sure to wear a helmet! There is also a tahana merkazit (bus station) 100m from the house for traveling further distances. This is the old main station of Tel Aviv at the shuk hacarmel, therefore many buses stop there until today. If you come from the airport you can take of course a taxi for a price between ******* shekels depending on the time of the day. But you can also take the train to tel aviv main station and then either a taxi or the bus number 6.More
