This is the apartment that my wife chose and is our home for three months of the year. It is on the 9th floor of the uniquely* located Rimping Condominium overlooking the Ping River and opposite the US Consulate. The balcony is a major bonus and great for dining and an evening sun-downer. The condominium is also close to most of the places we want to go. Across the Nankornping Bridge are the major markets and a bit further is the Night Bazaar and dozens of places to eat. The Old City is under a mile but if that is too far to walk it is an easy ride in a tuk-tuk or songthaew.
* It was constructed in a prime location and caused such controversy that all subsequent high rise buildings were subjected to greater regulation and are significantly further out.

When you book you will be sent a detailed set of notes on managing the apartment, security and access details, places to go, things to do and our recommended shopping places. When you get to the apartment you will find a great deal more detail in the form of brochures and maps that we or other guests have collected.. We shall not be there to greet you because when you are in Chiang Mai we are in Australia. However we have owned the apartment for ten years and the office and security staff are very used to looking after our guests on their arrival. If you do need to contact us we are available by phone or email .

这是我和家人第二次在清迈过冬了,Charles的这个公寓位置非常方便,购物方面:河对面就是清迈最大的生鲜集市,1公里多是Rimping超市,2公里多是清迈最大的百货商场Central Festival;交通方面,除了uber打车,楼下双条车、突突车也容易打到,关键是这个公寓很显眼和出名,跟司机一说都知道。距离古城很近,对成年人来说,步行游览古城景点没有问题。对于有孩子的我们来说,这个公寓最大的优点是离一个英语幼儿园很近,只有1公里多,这个幼儿园可以以星期为单位接收孩子。另外在距离公寓400m的地方,还有一个可以学习音乐、芭蕾、画画、英语等内容的课外学习中心,我的孩子在清迈期间在那里学习了钢琴。 公寓本身配套比较齐全,保安、物业、游泳池、健身房、洗衣房都有配备。但是这个公寓建成年代有些久远了,好的地方是房间比较高大,在大阳台上眺望清迈古城非常惬意。但是比如泳池和健身房也比较陈旧了。 Charles的公寓内部设施非常全,因为主人也自己居住,所以确实有种家的感觉,厨房里厨具很多,衣柜里床品也充分,特别适合长期且喜欢自己做饭的租客。美中不足是这个公寓里没有洗衣机,不过在楼下或者不远处都可以找到洗衣服务。 最后我想说Charles是个很好的房东,在预定和实际入住过程中,我们都沟通顺畅。虽然没有见过面,但是可以感受到他的通情达理。如果再来清迈,很希望可以再次入住这里。 This is my family’s second time in Chiang Mai for the winter. Thank you for your interest. If you wish to make a booking please check the availability dates and the rates and contact me via the web site with your dates. I shall respond with a quote/payment request and at the same time hold your dates for 48 hours. If, in that time, you have paid the deposit those dates are secured for you. If a deposit is not paid in 48 hours the dates will be made available again. To keep matters simple your rental includes your electricity and water charges; we don't like unpleasant surprises any more than you do.

In order to comply with the agreement we have with our condominium management the minimum stay is 4 weeks. The visa on arrival system will normally allow a stay of 30 days. It will also be necessary for you to supply the names of the travellers in your party so their occupancy can be authorised.

Wherever you stay I wish you a happy holiday, Chiang Mai is a magical place.

About the neighbourhood
Chiang Mai is a favourite traveller destination with a fascinating history going back to 1296. The old walled and moated city is full of interest and more than 100 Buddhist temples. The people, the shops and the eating places are a delight with dinner from $2.50 on the street to as much as you would like to pay in a grand hotel...... and the cost of living is low enough for a western traveller to recover their air-fare ! It is also a great place to explore Northern Thailand and to visit Vientiane and Myanmar.
Getting around
For local travel in the city we walk to the major markets and the Night Market which are the other side of the river. For longer trips we take a red taxi ( a pick-up vehicle with benches in the back and inexpensive (30 baht each) but subject to negotiation for rides beyond 4kms. Tuk tuks for local travel (a motorised two-seater) are also numerous.
For trips outside Chiang Mai we use the local buses. This means a ride to the bus station and then take a bus of your choice. Very cheap, very interesting, and very local.............. not touristy.

There is a taxi rank at the exit to the terminal building and a lady to assign you a cab. The flat rate is Baht220 (about USD$6) to go to the Rimping Condominium. Before you leave home you will have been sent a full set of notes on running the apartment. On arrival Security Staff will escort you to your apartment and you will find that the apartment has been set up in anticipation of your arrival.
