Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Stable Cottage
Stable Cottage is a lovely place to stay. The Cottage is extremely comfortable with all the things you need and in a glorious setting with lovely walks straight from the door. A warm welcome from our host Kate who was so helpful with advice about the local area.

Glorious Week at Corsewell Estate
Galloway is one of the areas of Scotland that like the Scottish Borders seems to go at a slower more relaxed pace of life that more people need to embrace if they possibly can! and I can't think of anywhere more relaxing than Corsewell and the beautiful Stables cottage. An immaculate cottage on the estate with beautiful walks directly from the doorstep. All the walks are very well marked and have great views. At night if your lucky enough to have clear skies the stars are stunning! Galloway is and area to explore with great beach and country walks and lovely small towns and villages all within easy reach of the Estate. All more enjoyable of course of the weather is good but hey it's Scotland!!! Plenty opportunity to see birdlife in the area as well. Angus and Kate were lovely.Absolutely recommend Stables cottage.

fabulous accommodation and location
The estate is perfect for walks and our dog loved it especially the beaches.
The accommodation was lovely and a few nice touches such as the welcome pack and the wonderful bean to cup coffee machine.
The area has some fantastic bays and beaches. We were impressed by not having to pay to park the restaurants were good and mostly dog friendly. We particularly liked Henrys bar and grill - great seafood, good views across the bay and lovely staff (we went twice and would have gone again if we had the time.)

First over the border after lockdown
Our second visit to Corsewall Estates and Stable cottage along with our dog Millie. The estate offers great walks with well maintained paths and conveniently located benches to enjoy the views.
Our visit coincided with the bluebells almost in full view and the rhododendrons providing wonderful colour. As usual plenty of roe deer to see close to the cottage along with woodpeckers but no red squirrels this time.
This time we discovered Lady Bay which is a lovely beach walk on Loch Ryan. Great to see the gannets diving for their food.
The cottage is very cosy and has the quality you would expect from a 4 star accomodation.
Basic provisions are provided as well as some treats for Millie.
Apart from the barking deer there is quiet peacefulness about the estate.
Angus and Kate are great hosts and always happy to have a craic.
We will be back again next year for what now is our annual fix.

Staycation
We had a fantastic week in Stables Cottage, it was comfortable and surprisingly spacious with all the mod-cons you could ask for in a very cosy setting. The grounds of Corsewall Estate are stunning and exceptionally well kept. We saw a deer enjoying our garden but sadly the elusive red squirrels did not put in an appearance for us. The weather during our stay was shocking but we still managed to find some great activities, including Cream of Galloway and it’s amazing wooden adventure park, The Cocoabean Co for a chocolate workshop and best of all the amazing Gem Rock Museum which really was our favourite, the quizzes and workshop kept our 11 and 9 year old entertained for the full 2.5hours and all for £16. We also took great advantage of the gov. Eat out to help out scheme and were able to enjoy a fabulous afternoon tea at the North West Castle. We would have loved to spend a day on the beach at Portpatrick as it looked idyllic but alas the weather did not play ball. In fact if the weather had been kinder I don’t think we would have left the estate (of which we had free range) as the children had football nets, Wendy house, swings, trampoline, zip wire, streams and woods to keep them entertained and there were plenty of books, coffee and garden furniture for us to enjoy, and that’s without the fantastic private beach for swimming. A wonderful, relaxing stay, thank you Kate and Angus who made excellent hosts.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We're so pleased you had a wonderful week at Stables Cottage and we're only sorry we couldn't arrange better weather for you! It sounds as if you had a busy week regardless what with your trips to the chocolate factory, the ice cream play centre and the Gem Rock Museum. We're delighted you loved the grounds and all the outdoor play equipment. You'll have to come back another year to see the red squirrels! Many thanks once again!

Great dog-friendly cottage by the sea
2 week stay in the Stables Cottage. We have stayed in the area before but this is the best accommodation we have had. The cottage is well equipped and in a great location. There are many walks through the estate directly from the front door on gravel paths which take you through the woods with wonderful views over the sea and overlooking Loch Ryan. Red squirrels, deer and birds of prey are regularly seen in the woods. Overall a lovely cottage with the bonus of being dog-friendly.

A Xmas to remember!
For the first time in many, many years, all the family couldn’t be together for Xmas so we decided to go off with the dogs and have a different festive occasion. We were a bit apprehensive, but Corsewell Estate soon won us over. Stables Cottage with its real Xmas tree and other festive decorations plus the log fire made it feel just right. Our retrievers thought all their birthdays had come at once - don’t think there was an inch of the beautuful estate they didn’t try to explore! The cottage is well equipped and cosy and Kate and Angus are great hosts. If you value quality, Stables Cottage will not disappoint.

Wonderful!
We booked Stables Cottage for May half-term, and we were not disappointed. Set on the grounds of a beautiful Scottish estate, close to Stranraer and Loch Ryan, the Cottage was beautifully finished/furnished and we were given a very warm welcome by Kate, Angus, and their dogs Sybil and Struay - who were super friendly with our two small girls!
Kate and Angus had left a really helpful home-made guide to the local area, based on their local knowledge, and this proved invaluable over the week we stayed. Indeed, the welcome pack extended to fresh flowers and chocolate brownies - it was very thoughtfully done.
The location of the cottage was a very short walk to Loch Ryan, or a short drive to Stranraer. We found that everything a family needed was within easy reach.
A particular highlight included being invited to attend a 'forest ranger' workshop in the grounds on one afternoon - this included building teepees and making mud faces in the woods and was great fun for children and adults alike. Other must-see attractions included the Mull of Galloway, Logan Botanic Gardens and Killantringan Lighthouse/Beach. The beaches are very sandy and quite child-friendly, though the tides do come in quick!
All in all a wonderful location for a short break (either with or without children) in a part of Scotland that is still largely undiscovered. We're already thinking of booking again in the near future!

Fabulous family holiday
We had a wonderful stay at Stables Cottage. Kate and Angus made us feel very welcome and the cottage was beautiful. The children (11 and 9) loved the freedom of the grounds, especially the zip wire and trampoline. I would totally this place for a fabulous getaway.
