Our cottage is just across from the beach with biking and walking trails, bird sanctuary, restaurants, coffee shop, family-friendly activities, nightlife, corner store with liquor sales, neighbourhood pub, and spa/resort. Enjoy the opportunity to unwind, relax and engage in seaside activities or venture into nearby towns and villages to enjoy their own unique flavours. Our furnishings are an eclectic mix of family heirlooms and on site memorabilia found during our work restoring our 'secret garden' site. Our grounds have ben dedicated to organic gardening for the 15 years we have lived here and we offer guests both fruits (thornless blackberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, figs and pears) and vegetables in season on request. We stayed here for a couple of nights, as part of our 10th wedding anniversary. It was so relaxing! We loved the garden, the decor and mostly how close it is to everything. Having the gorgeous water view was the icing on a romantic cake....More

It was fun to host a couple on their anniversary. Gordon and his wife were a pleasure to have and we would welcome them back another time.

We stayed at red roofs cottage for one week to allow us to explore some of Vancouver island and it proved to be an excellent choice. The cottage is well fitted out, if a little quirky, and you also have the use of an outside...More

About the neighbourhood
We are a block away from a popular pub Roys Towne Pub, and the food is better than average pub food with a chef on site. There is a spa and restaurant a few blocks away, the Kingfisher. In nearby Cumberland, an old coal mining town, there are assorted eclectic shops, restaurants, pubs and breweries. Courtenay is somewhat larger and this is reflected in the same sorts of opportunities on a larger scale. Comox is larger as well and situated on the water. We boast a popular ski resort Mount Washington and alpine meadows and trailways. Water sports in the valley are popular and many summer festivities involve seaside activities, food and locale.
Getting around
A rental car is a convenient way to see the sights. Bikers love the area for trail riding and getting around the valley as well. Buses run regularly and stop within a block.
