Brookby Ridge Cottage

Cottage -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Blenheim, Marlborough Region, South Island
Brookby Ridge Cottage is a lovingly restored cottage, perfect as a holiday home, nestled amongst our peaceful, hilltop olive grove in Marlborough, NZ.

You couldn't be closer to the vineyards of Marlborough. Brookby Ridge Cottage sits alongside a working vineyard, with sweeping views of the vines and vistas of Blenheim, the Wairau Valley and across the Cook Strait to the North Island beyond - all there for you to take in from your private veranda. Harrier Hawks swoop and soar majestically across the valley below, whilst California Quail and pheasant wander quietly through the surrounding trees.

The open-plan living space is complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, large comfy couches and a wood-burning fire to snuggle up to on cooler evenings. With one king-size bedroom, this is perfect for one couple as a romantic retreat, where the...

We had a lovely week in Brookby Ridge. The cottage has a lovely aspect looking across Brancott Estate vineyards, to Cloudy Bay and Cooks Strait in the distance. Well equipped, with a very fancy shower! Great tips from Mary Jo and Richard on vineyards and...More

We had a very nice stay at Brookby cottage. The location was perfect, very close to the airport and not far from town either. It was very quiet and private, with great views from the veranda down over the valley, and it was a nice...More

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Rosanne. Glad to hear the log burner kept you warm and cosy, in spite of having had the hottest summer on record there is always an occasional break in the weather that has everyone scrambling for jumpers...More

One of our favourite places we stayed in New Zealand. Very comfortable, well located and equipped, with lovely views over Brancott Estate next door from the sunny terrace. If it gets too hot, there is the deck on the other side to relax on. The...More

About the neighbourhood
Vineyards as far as the eye can see, with views over the Cook Strait to the North Island. Plenty of good local eating spots, ranging from cafes to high-class restaurants. The Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre (named best little museum in the southern hemisphere) is 10 minutes away, containing wonderful WWI, and recently WWII, historic aircraft displays (some of them belonging to filmmaker Sir Peter Jackson, of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings fame).

The beautiful Marlborough Sounds, home to 20% of NZ's coastline, can be accessed from Picton or Havelock. Tramp the famous Queen Charlotte Track or catch a water taxi to a restaurant for lunch. Do a mussel cruise!

Plenty of good shops and several supermarkets, both in Renwick & Blenheim.

How to get there
Airport: Marlborough (Blenheim) Airport: 6.0 km
Railway: Blenheim: 14.0 km
Ferry: Picton: 40.0 km
We're about 7 minutes away from Blenheim Airport, with access to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown international airports, which we use ourselves on a regular basis. There are several car hire firms that operate out of the airport, with cars on site.

A regular ferry service operates between Wellington, in the North Island, and Picton, at the top of the South Island, allowing you to bring your car across the Cook Strait, should you wish. There are car hire firms in both these places as well..

The east coast road from Blenheim to Kaikoura (SH1), which was badly damaged in the November 2016 earthquake, will be reopened on 15th December 2017, in time for the busy tourist season ahead. There is a good network of roads that will take you all the way down the South Island,...
