At The Friendly Chat we let you make the choices - we live upstairs, so are readily available if you have any questions about the facilities we offer. We have lived in the local area for over 25 years, so have lots of information we can share about places to eat, local attractions and how to get around. Having travelled a lot ourselves, we realise you can make the most of your time by tapping into local knowledge. As travellers ourselves, we also realise it is nice to be left alone if that is your choice. We're always available for a friendly chat if you choose!

We have stayed in many B&B accommodation in our travels. Friendly Chat is our favourite and we will definitely stay here again when visiting Brisbane. We absolutely loved this place! The garden was fantastic for our boys, who really enjoyed it. Trish and Chris make this a home away from home - never intrusive, but go out of their way to help with little extras. The Friendly Chat is located one block back from the edge of Moreton Bay at Thorneside. It is in a quiet, leafy neighbourhood that offers relaxing walks by the bay, with picnic and recreation areas only a short stroll away. Shopping centres are in close proximity to the BnB, five minutes drive away. Undercover, offstreet parking is available, and the bus goes right past the door. The train station is close by, offering airconditioned and comfortable train travel to the city of Brisbane (40 mins) or to Cleveland (15 mins), the gateway to beautiful North Stradbroke Island.

If travelling by train, we are happy to pick you up/drop you off at Thorneside station. At Thorneside there is ample parking if you have your own car. We are only about 20mins drive away from Brisbane International and Domestic Airports. If you want a day away at North Stradbroke Island (highly recommended) we can provide you with train, bus and boat links to get you there easily.

Rail - Thorneside Railway Station is close by, with the regular train service from Cleveland offering air conditioned comfort to the city of Brisbane (40 mins).

Air Travel – Brisbane Domestic and International Airports are about a 20 min drive away. A rail link can take you from the airport to Brisbane City, where a Cleveland Line train will bring you to Thorneside or Birkdale Stations.

Motorway – Exiting from the Gateway Motorway onto Wynnum Road, it is a 10km drive to Thorneside through Tingalpa and Manly West onto Rickertt Rd.
