Cyclists and walkers will have the possibility to stretch their legs and discover the hidden charms of our idyllic countryside. Handzame is situated along the cycling route connected to the West Flanders cycling network. It is also an ideal environment for Nordic walking. Initiation courses and trial lessons are given at local clubs. 2 pair of solid poles are also available for the sports walker. The Hanzame Valley has for twenty years been a European Birds protected area, and is known for its waterbirds and waders. How to get there
We are easily accessible by public transport to the railwaystation of Kortemark (located on the railway Landen – Brussels – Ghent – Adinkerke / De Panne). All the surrounding villages ( Kortemark, Werken, Zarren etc) are within easy reach of Handzame by coach. We meet train travellers at Kortemark railwaystation by arrangement. Averulle is located 14 Km from the motorway E 403 Brugge-Kortrijk (Lichtervelde exit), and has a large garage and parking.
