Holiday Rental House
Casa Vigneto is a traditional, rustic stone house that is ideal for families or groups of friends. It can be rented as a stand-alone property or in conjunction with one or both of our other properties: La Stalla, a barn conversion that sleeps two people, and/or L'Antico Palazzo, which can sleep up to 10. (Please see our other entries for more information on these properties.) An outdoor swimming pool (3m x 9m) with mountain view is located across a small vineyard, next to La Stalla (approx 2 min walk from Casa Vigneto), and is shared between the three properties. An outdoor swimming pool (3m x 9m) with mountain view is located across a small vineyard, next to La Stalla (approx 2 min walk from Casa Vigneto), and is shared between the three properties. Casa Vigneto has truly magnificent views of the Appennini mountains and the river Dolo, and is situated in Villa Bonicelli, a picturesque and peaceful hamlet in the beautiful Emilia-Romagnan countryside. It sleeps up to seven people (there are three bedrooms, plus a day bed with comfortable mattress in the upstairs sitting room). The house is set back from the road, with a garden, shared with one other property (owned by an elderly Italian couple who love children!), to the front. Guests have use of a large outdoor table with chairs, sun loungers and barbecue. The property is furnished with many antique one-off pieces, making it a quirky and original holiday home in which to base yourselves while exploring this stunning and little-known area of Italy. On the ground floor is a large open-plan kitchen/diner with wood-burning stove, exposed stonework and an unusual vaulted ceiling. The dining table seats six, and there is also a comfortable seating area with TV and DVD player. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom (again with vaulted ceiling) and shower room (loo, basin, shower cubicle). Upstairs, taking full advantage of the beautiful views, there is a large sitting room that opens onto a spacious south-facing covered balcony overlooking a small orchard, a vineyard and the Appennini mountains – a wonderful setting for your al fresco meals! The sitting room itself has an attractive original terracotta floor and a small wood-burning stove and is stylishly furnished. Also on the first floor is a second shower room and two further bedrooms: a comfortable single room and a double room with doors opening onto a second, east-facing balcony – the perfect spot to admire the view with a glass of wine! All three bedrooms have views of the river Dolo and the mountains. Please note that although there is no internet access in the house itself, free wifi is available by the swimming pool.More

From the great booking process with Polly to the lovely late night welcome - with homemade pizza - from Jan & Richard, our stay was memorable. The secluded location, "fun" local mountain hairpins to drive, barbecues sitting at the edge of the vineyard and lovely...More

We stayed in Casa Vigneto for 10 days this August. After winding through narrow lanes for an hour from Modena (car definitely required) we found the old stone farmhouse nestled in a small hamlet within a beautiful and peaceful valley. The house was spacious, clean...More

About the neighbourhood
For those looking to take it easy, why not simply sit back with a glass of vino and take in the gorgeous views from your balcony, relax by the pool or head out to one of the lovely local restaurants to be treated to some delicious Emilian cuisine? The river Dolo, which is in places deep enough to bathe (if you like a very 'refreshing' dip - see pics), is just a few minutes' walk away and there are some spectacular walks that can be enjoyed directly from your front door. There's also a wealth of wildlife to observe – sharp-eyed guests might very well spot woodpeckers in the forest, deer in the fields and birds of prey circling over the mountains. The beautiful scenery also makes Villa Bonicelli an ideal location for painting holidays. The area has many restaurants and pizzerias that offer ...

Milan Malpensa is about 3 hours from Villa Bonicelli and Milan Linate is about 2.5hrs. For flights from regional airports, Ryanair flies to Milan Bergamo (also approx 3hrs) from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Glasgow Prestwick, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Stansted. Ryanair also flies to Pisa (again around 2.5hrs from Villa Bonicelli), from Bournemouth, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow Prestwick, Le...
