“Pistoulet” cottage was built in 1850 in the village of Lagor . The village has kept its heritage and still retains a country feel with all amenities close by.
Australia has been my adopted home since 1986, but part of me has never left the Pyrenees . We had been on the look-out for a special place to call home and we fell in love with “Pistoulet” and were lucky enough to make it ours. Adding our own touch was important and to make it a comfortable home was essential.
The Béarn region is full of history and character and has so much to offer to holiday makers. The mountains, the sea, Spain and the Basque region are situated at your door step. The regional gastronomy is one of France 's best.

Just so lovely and convenient to the whole of South West France
The location is amazing. So close to Pau and its wonderful galleries and museums. Also convenient to all the romantic and beautiful areas of St-Jean-pied a port, Biarattz , San Sebastian, Beyone, and we did an overnighter to Bilbao and Guernica in Spain. Had memorable meals everywhere, especially two in Monein. We stayed for three weeks. We would certainly stay a month or more next time.

A Special Place
We have such wonderful memories of our stay at "Pistoulet". The cottage was beautifuuly presented and really set the atmosphere for our short stay in this picturesque region. There was nothing lacking and felt like home from the very start. Whether it is a quiet base just to stay and explore the immediate village on foot or to use as an easy starting point to discover the region in general we could not recommend "Pistoulet" more highly... we are definitely going back.

Great house, location and views
We loved everything about our stay - the comfortable bedrooms and living spaces, the outdoor terrace with wonderful views of the Pyrenees, the well-equipped kitchen and the location in such a friendly small village. Our hosts (French Patrick and his Australian wife Robbie) helped with information on the area, restaurants, local growers and producers, surrounding villages, walking tours, day trips including to Bilbao and sections of the Camino de Santiago. We felt like locals and would definitely stay again.

so quaint and delightful
Just a beautiful place to stay. Pistolet is a welcoming and charming little house where you can just fall in love with the French scenery. It is well equipped and you feel totally at home the moment you walk through the door. Well situated to go exploring and returning after a long day to a good wine and some cheese.
