Holiday Rental House
'Ty Cariad’ is Welsh for ‘beloved house’ or ‘darling house’. We chose this name to reflect all the love and attention that went into renovating it from October 2007 to May 2009 and the way the cottage is nestled in the foothills of the Cambrian mountains, providing a relaxing retreat and a chance to recuperate to the sound of birdsong. Our cottage is surrounded by forests, nature reserves and riverside walks and has stunning views over the beautiful Ystwyth valley. We are on the doorstep of the historic Hafod forest estate with it's wonderful landscaped walks for all levels of ability. Visit the cavern cascade to see a waterfall carved into a cave, or wander higher up the valley for some incredible views. We are on two of the most beautiful cycle routes (81/82) and there are angling and horse-riding opportunities nearby. Boat rides are available to see dolphins, but you can also see them from the recently extended coastal path which runs the full length of the Cardigan coast. There is also a host of attractions for younger people and there is good information, with maps and leaflets provided so you can plan your break with ease.More

About the neighbourhood
We are on the doorstep of the historic Hafod forest estate with it's landscaped gardens and walks of differing lengths and levels of agility. There are the ruins of an old mansion house, waterfalls and a cavern cascade. In the valley below the village is a gorge with the River Ystwyth making it's way though. A few miles down the valley is the scenic Grogwynion Nature Reserve riverside walking, and bathing when the river is calm. The Teifi pools are nearby for angling enthusiasts. We are on two of the best cycling routes in the country (81/82) and a little further along is an excellent riverside walk called Black Covert and above this, a medieval hill fort. If you go further south, the Strata Florida Abbey ruins are worth a visit (do book a table for a meal at the excellent Black Lion pub) ...
How to get there
Driving is simplest option, as bus is infrequent from Aberystwyth.
