On arrival you'll let yourselves in: the door will be unlocked and the key on the kitchen worktop. We live just about 15mins drive away, and you'll be welcome to call in to say hello or to ask for help or some tips on where to go and what to see. But of course we're even nearer by email or phone call! We'll be round your way from time to time, so we may just call in to say hello, or we may be in touch to agree a convenient time for cutting the grass. Whatever, you can be sure we'll respect your privacy, but we're always available if you need us.

Two nights wasn't long enough on this idyllic island. A family wedding was the highlight so sadly not enough time to explore. Very pretty cottage with all amenities.

About the neighbourhood
8 Askernish is one of about a dozen or so crofts (small-holdings) and private houses that make up Aksernish township, scattered along a quiet lane, about a mile long, leading from South Uist's main north-south road to the west - the Atlantic - coast of the island. Amongs the dunes is the famous Askernish golf course - a spectacular links golf course first laid out more than a century ago by 'Old Tom Morris' and restored about 2009. 8 Askernish is the perfect base for wildlife-watching, walking, cycling, whether along the quiet roads, or the sandy lanes and beaches. Getting around
A car is highly recommended (hire cars are available - ask for advice). A bicycle is also recommended for exploring locally - especially the quiet lanes and tracks along the western shoreline. Carrick is about 5-10 mins walk from a main bus route, with services suitable for arriving and leaving - but not for seeing the sights. We recommend walking gear to get the most out of your holiday, especially for exploring the hills and shores and discovering the amazing wildlife.
