Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, Western Ireland
Scregg Cottage is a Lovingly restored 250yr old Stone Cottage on a small working farm nestled under the Sliabh an Iarainn Mountains, on the Roscommon/Leitrim Borders. Our peaceful setting at the end of a lane means you can't hear a car yet we are only 2 miles from the bustling market town of Carrick on Shannon with it's first class facilities and great pubs and restaurants. The cottage is full of character with a wood burning stove and stunning views. It consists of a large kitchen/living area with comfy seating and a dining area. The main bedroom has a king bed with a super comfy tempur memory foam mattress and the second bedroom has bunk beds. There is also a sofa bed in the living room which comfortably sleeps two additional guests. All the rooms have heaters and electric blankets on the beds and wood is provided for the wood b... About the neighbourhood
Carrick on Shannon is the local town to Scregg Cottage and it has a wonderful almost continental feel to it in the summer - with every body outside and the boats busy on the Shannon. There are great pubs and restaurants - particularly well thought of is The Oarsman which is well decorated with awards for its food and ambience. There is The Dock which is a busy arts centre and has stunning local arts in it's gallery and first class performances in the theatre. The country side in this part of Ireland is majestic - tranquil loughs with mountains rising out of them, soft hills dotted with cattle and sheep, and breath taking coast lines boasting sandy beaches that stretch for miles and some of the best surf in the world.
