About the neighbourhood
With a village green, old stone monument and stocks, Litton is described as 'a little gem of a White Peak village, set in glorious countryside'.
Just a few strides up the road from the Cotton Loft, which is located in the centre of the village, is the local village pub, the Red Lion, which is a fine old inn serving real ales and a good choice of food. Well-dressing is in late June each year and is well worth a visit. Tideswell (Cathedral of the Peak) is one mile away and offer 4 pubs, a Co-op open till late, and several cafes/delis/sandwich shops and other local amenities. The market town of Bakewell is 7 miles away, the spa town of Buxton (home to the Opera House, one of Britain's leading receiving Edwardian theatres) is 9 miles, and the stately homes of Chatsworth House (...

• At the roundabout in Baslow village take the A623 for Stockport
• Approx 2 miles on from Stoney Middleton you will pass The Three Stags public house on your right and a café on your left.
• As you continue up the hill you will come to a left turn sign posted Litton & Cressbrook – take this.
From the M6 South we suggest Junction 19 Knutsford
This takes you over the Cat & Fiddle road which is not recommended in bad weather – in which case we suggest Stockport & the A6 – see further below
