We live next door at Ivy Cottage Farm, the original farmhouse and are always happy to help our guests accustomise to their new surroundings. The cottages have been created from what was the barn. On the day of arrival, your cottage will be available from 3pm, or earlier by prior arrangement. You will find a welcome book in your cottage which gives a full list of things to do, useful tips and places to visit. It also covers information on many of the settings and appliances in your cottage, but please don't hesitate to wander round to see us or give us a call to test our knowledge on the area, we are always happy to chat to our guests and help when it comes to deciding on what to do or where to go.

About the neighbourhood
We have some lovely walks around the village of Carleton which can lead up onto the moors or which will take you across the public footpath into Skipton town. Skipton boasts a range of visitor attractions with the colourful waterways and 4 day a week street market. Skipton Castle is a must for the visitors to the town along with the fabulous walk around Skipton Castle Woods, all just off the High Street.
Getting around
Skipton train station is just 1.5 miles away with taxi ranks outside. There is also a regular bus service into the village from Skipton which passes the station. There are regular bus services taking you up into the Yorkshire Dales from Skipton bus station, these operate 7 days a week. A car would be recommended for those wanting to venture further up into the Yorkshire Dales. There a also some lovely walks around the village of Carleton which take you into Skipton. A comfortable walk into town of only 2 miles all on the level.

You will find Poppy Cottages on Main Street in Carleton and there is a big green sign in the front garden with the words Poppy Cottages and Ivy Cottage Farm displayed; making it very easy to spot, when driving into the village. Our parking area is accessed by crossing over the cattle grid driving into the forecourt.

We are just 2 miles from Skipton and the train station is just 1.5 miles into the village from Skipton. It is within walking distance but you will find taxis outside the station at most times. The bus station operates a service into Carleton (Mondays - Fridays only)

The nearest airport to Skipton is Leeds/Bradford airport which is around 20 miles away. The journey to and from the airport generally takes around 45 minutes.
