About the neighbourhood
Perpignan is the last major town in Languedoc before the Spanish border. There's a real mix of cultures in this corner of the region: Catalan, Romany and North African all co-exist in this sunny city of palm-lined squares. It is the former capital of the Kings of Majorca and the Counts of Roussillon, and changed hands repeatedly during the medieval period until finally becoming French territory with the Treaty of the Pyrenees of 1659. There are many sports that you can both participate in and enjoy as a spectator while you are in the are. Since it is located by the Mediterranean Sea, there are many activities that you can do on the water. Deep sea fishing is a very popular. You can either rent your own boat or go out with skilled fishermen who know the waters the best. A lot of touri...
Getting around
Buses run from and through the village. They will take you to Canet Plage (the beach) and to connections for all other destinations. We recommend access to a car for at least some of the time, as there is so much to do and see in this magnificent area of France.
