Holiday Rental House
'La Grange' is a misnomer - the house has taken its name from the large barn ('en colombage') which is part of the property. The farmhouse is set in the hamlet of Maintru, close to the Avenue Verte and the River Bethune. There is a large and secure garden enclosing the farmhouse itself, a half-timbered barn and a converted stable. The house was built in the 1790s in the traditional Normandy style with exposed beams and an open fireplace. The ground floor accommodation comprises a large dining kitchen, family bathroom, utility room, two living rooms (with an open fireplace and a wood-burning stove) and a TV/reading area with sofa bed. The upstairs accommodation consists of four bedrooms and a shower room. Thank you, John. You and Maggie were perfect guests, and I am very glad that you enjoyed your stay. Béatrice, our cleaner, was also delighted by the 'pourboire' that you left for her!

About the neighbourhood
The house is just 200 metres from the 'Avenue Verte', a 40 km cycle track that was once the railway line between Dieppe and Forges-les-Eaux. The long term plan is to extend the Avenue Verte to connect London with Paris. The surrounding countryside is best explored on foot, by cycle or on horseback. The Foret d'Eawy, a vast tract of beech trees with trails for walking and riding, lies less than 10 miles to the west. (The stables at Pomeroy are recommended). Extending from Dieppe to Fecamp and beyond is the Cote d'Albatre with its pretty seaside villages and spectacular chalk cliffs. The Saint Saens Golf Cub (18 holes, 6510 yards) has been described as 'one of the prettiest in Normandy'. It is surrounded by the Eawy beech forest and the clubhouse and restaurant is in the 19th century Ch...
