Character village property of exposed natural stone, dating from the 17th century, situated in a cul-de-sac on the edge of the village of Bugarach, a few yards from one of the Cathar footpaths. The house has a large south-facing balcony from which there is an uninterrupted view of the famous Pech de Bugarach, the highest mountain in the Corbieres range. It has extensive grounds, including a small hill affording a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside, and a beautiful secluded courtyard, shaded by trailing plants. This is an ideal base for outdoor activity since footpaths radiate in all directions from the village, offering a wealth of local and long-distances hikes. About the neighbourhood
This is a mountainous limestone area, occupying 3 climate zones, giving rise to Mediterranean summers, northern European winters, year-round alpine influence and a wealth of flora and fauna. The village, nestling under Bugarach mountain, is surrounded by broad-leaf woodland, mainly oak and chestnut. The forests are home to wild boar; eagles nest on the mountain and black vultures visit the area daily to feed. This is ideal terrain for walkers, climbers, cyclists and nature lovers. It is also an ideal area for lovers of historic sites. The village lake, despite its lack of crystalline waters, is perfect for wild swimming, while the neigbouring village of Rennes-les-Bains offers natural thermal baths.

How to get there
Airport: Carcassonne 58km or Perpignan 60km: 58.0 km
Bugarach is midway between the airports of Perpignan and Carcassonne, both just over one hour away. Carcassonne airport is open all year round while Perpignan closes over the the winter. Girona airport (Spain) and Toulouse airport are both about 2½ hours away. Both of these airports, although further from Bugarach, are served by more UK airports than the first two. It should be noted that car hire is cheaper in Spain. There are TGV train services from Paris to Carcassonne and a local train service from there to Couiza, the nearest small town. There is no public transport to the village itself.
