Well equipped kitchen allowing us to cook good meals. Did our bit putting out the bins but found no black bags. No probs, just bought some. St Andrews a wonderful place, and I don't play golf. My old English master retired here, and now I...More

About the neighbourhood
Strathkinness is an attractive wee village on the outskirts of St Andrews. It has a big sky and open outlooks to the north. No more than 200yds along the High Road from our cottage is the Strathkinness Tavern where you will find a warm welcome, real ale and excellent meals. There is a shop, a church and a sense of community. If feeling reasonably energetic, St Andrews is walkable and the village sits within the Fife cycle network. For children is there is a large grassy playpark with swings etc 50yds along the High Road. Nearby, and unmissable if you're under 10, is Craigtoun Country Park with trampolines, rowing pond, miniature railway and more.

How to get there
Railway: Leuchars: 6.0 km
From the South and West our preferred route is crossing the Forth Bridge on the M90 and exiting on to A92 at Junction 2A for Kirkcaldy/Glenrothes. After some miles (beware mobile speed camera vans in Fife) at the roundabout for Kirkcaldy-Glenrothes junction take second exit continuing on A92 for Glenrothes/Dundee. Having skirted Glenrothes still on the A92 I usually take the 3rd exit on to the A914 which leads all the way to Cupar via Kettlebridge and Balmalcolm. Equally, you could continue on the A92 through Ladybank until at the next roundabout you pick up the A91 for Cupar/St Andrews. Having arrived at the attractive market town of Cupar continue on A91for St Andrews. Our usual advice for those who have not been to Strathkinness before is to continue on through Dairsie and Guardbridg... more
