Ysyhia is modern, bright and airy. It has a private pool that is the perfect size for flopping about in.
The kitchen is well-equipped without being full of clutter and you will likely be offered fresh eggs or vegetables from our garden depending upon availability.
It is far enough from civilisation to be astonishingly quiet and restful yet close enough to be convenient for shops, beaches and eating out. And of course the view is stunning, with no light pollution, the night sky is bursting with stars. No other buildings can be seen from the cottage and none overlook it. Our house is up the hill from the cottage on the same 1½ acre plot. Each house has its own private access and a fence separates the “farm” from the cottage and its garden. A grove of olive and almond trees provide each house with total privacy from one another but we are...

Interaction with guests
At the start of the season we will reserve a car for you at our local car rental firm who will be able to provide you with the best service locally. In the few weeks before your arrival we will be in touch to find out your flight details and to advise you of the most appropriate sailings. When you arrive at the Port of Glossa we will be there waiting with your rental car to show you the way to the cottage and we will call in at a supermarket and a bakery on the way. At the cottage there is a local guide book which we update every year as well as a selection of local maps. We’re more than willing to help with suggestions about places to go and things to do, the best places to eat and drink and where you can buy anything you weren't able to f

We are back from 10 amazing days spent at this tranquil and beautiful retreat. The exterior gardens, shaded patio and pool were a joy, well done and well maintained and perfect for a couple to get away from it all. The location is very remote...More

About the neighbourhood
Ysyhia is the Greek word for tranquility. We chose this name for our cottage because it was the exclamation most frequently used by our builders when they took a well-earned rest during its construction. It would be wrong to describe Glossa, a traditional hillside village of some 900 souls, just over 1km away, as hectic or noise-some, but by comparison, it is. There is more traffic on the sea, 200m below the cottage, than there is on the dirt road that leads to its door and you are more likely to hear the voices of fishermen in their boats than a passing car. You are also likely to hear a dog or a cockerel, but not much else. The cottage is set in olive and almond groves and looks out across the sea towards Evvia. No other buildings nor sig
Getting around
Ysyhia's remote location means that there is no public transport to hand. There is a bus the other side of Glossa village and it will take about 45 minutes to reach the bus stop from the cottage on foot. Alternatively you can take taxis but we strongly recommend a rental car and we are very happy to book this for you.

How to get there
Airport: Skiathos: 12.0 km
Railway: Volos: 98.0 km
Ferry: Glossa: 8.0 km
Most of our guests come from Britain and take a charter flight directly to Skiathos airport and then a scheduled sailing from the Port of Skiathos to the Port of Glossa. If however you are coming a different route, perhaps via Athens, Thessaloniki or Volos, we can help to advise you of the easiest way to reach us. You will find that you have a far greater selection of routes if you do not try to bring a car with you.
